So when can you come in for a test drive on the MKZ?

Our Fusion has been epic reliable/solid. It's quite refined and comfy.

No hatch but the trunk is big. Would be a fraction of the budget too...

TSX while reliable is way too old. He will have to do some deferred maintenance and other things. Same goes with the other cars.
I personally think @Johnny should lease a JLU/JL Rage 4 or any other cross over and get some kind insurance that covers bumpers. Then park that thing by feel and let others feel the pain.

Needs:
-$25k max price. I can afford way more than this but I want it to be somewhat NFG and not care too much if it gets damaged.
-AWD/4WD
-Automatic
-25 MPG highway at minimum
-87 octane
-SUV/CUV/hatch/wagon body style
-Reliable
Wants:
-Under 50k miles if used
-Light color interior

-NA or hybrid engine with preferably 8 second or better 0-60
Nice to have:
-Something still park-able in the city

As I mentioned they have provisions for wear and tear if you buy some $1500 protection package. This way you literally turn it in without a bumper and you give exactly 0 fucks.

That's quite surprising to me still. I wonder if it needs to be on base wheels or something. STI was one of the stiffest cars I have drive.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 2:53 pmMazda includes $1k of wear and tear, unfortunately the CX-5 rode too stiff for Herr

Shame the CX-5 seems perfect to me.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 2:53 pmMazda includes $1k of wear and tear, unfortunately the CX-5 rode too stiff for Herr

I'm not buying a sporty anything. The CX5 confuses me a bit, as do all "sport" oriented CUVs. I just kind of fail to see the point.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 2:55 pmThat's quite surprising to me still. I wonder if it needs to be on base wheels or something. Also pretty confident that I won't do a lease. The amount of miles I'll put on this thing are unknown. If I continue to drive to Perth Amboy weekly, and take into account 6 days a week commuting to/from NJ at 13 miles each, that's over 15k/year in just commuting. Also consider because this would likely be the long haul road trip vehicle of choice, as the Cmax has 100k on it now.
I hear the new Foresters ride nicely. The last one handled great. I think they're still over the $25k threshold. Man they're putzy looking though.

Ride around in the back seat of one in center city Detroit for a bit.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 7:48 amShame the CX-5 seems perfect to me.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 2:53 pm

It's likely better than the back seat.
IIRC, your only experience in the thing is an uber ride in the back seat right? I wouldn't write a vehicle off based on that experience alone.

I've ridden around in the front seat and the back seat of one extensively through Philly and south Jersey, and driven a few on test drives. Meaning I have no experience.

Basically. Do you even DFD?
My Gladiator wanders all over the highway, has no headroom, and has made me deaf.

CX5 is a nice vehicle for people that want it. I don't want it? what the point of the discussion is, other than to explain that I'm clearly because I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I think something kind of off road capable makes a lot of sense. Would JLU or 4runner (even old ones are reliable) -personal pick .
Moving down the food chain I like the broforks/taco for pickup truck duty.
Further down and I'd look at the Rav4 and its competitors.
All of the above being cheap/used/battered in some cosmetic ways and possibly high mileage for that ZFG lyfe.
Acuras are pretty ugly but reliable and excellent daily drivers, they are safe and comfy... sugarfree vanilla doe.
I probably wouldn't even bother with a car if roads are as bad as they are said to be, but car formats would include base Impreza, used, low miles, bumpers optional. S4 maybe... most likely a Chally, I mean come on those things are sexy, comfy, and cool. Not AWD, no hatch but I'd make it work with some winters and a sidelined wifemobile with a hatch.
