Probably going to tint the car. on my last R I did 35% ceramic all around and I liked it. Not too dark, to impede visibility at night out the side windows, but good enough to cut heat and harsh sunlight..
How is your tint holding up, would you recommend the shop that did yours?
Saw a bunch of complaints saying it was "flat", "muddy" and overall just trash. Like everything, people love to complain and take it over the top. The system is good when you adjust the EQ for the type of music you're playing.
How is the EQ adjustment? Presets +B/M/T adjustment? I'm not sure if this is in my head or not but I feel like modern car audio systems are trending towards being designed to sound good for pop/rb/rap music only, and don't have enough range of adjustment to the EQ to swing it away from that. I had a QX80 rental for a couple weeks this month and I could not for the life of me adjust it to sound good for the type of rock/metal I listen to, and my friend that was with me says her X5 M is the same way. Yet my truck and Corvette sound great (SUPER SHITTY WORST STEREO EVER BLOSE). Not sure if you've noticed anything similar but I figured I'd ask since you've had lots of different types of vehicles in the last 15 years.
Here is the EQ settings for the R:
First, I should say that I listen at high volumes.
I listen almost exclusively to Rock, Classic Rock, Old School Punk, and 90's Rock/Pop Punk/Grunge and this system sounds amazing compared to the C5, C6, and C7 Bose systems as well as the one in the Colorado.. The Bose systems in the Corvettes use that big mid-bass in the doors that will distort at medium volumes fast, and muddies up the mids. Putting dynamat/Raam Mat and ensolite foam inside the doors makes a difference as it stops the door shells from vibrating and causing standing reverb waves from hitting the back of the drivers, but even after that they aren't fantastic. My C6 JL Audio setup with real tweeters, real mids in the doors and a dedicated sub in the back made the car sound great.
