Was the golf dsgay ? Also do they come with summer tires in your state ?[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 7:22 am Ok I've strung you monsters along long enough.
A few weeks ago I drove an R on a total whim a d was absolutely smitten. It was fun, the fun was accessible, it was comfortable, it's just a great DD. 80% of the fun of the Alfa for half the cost.
It planted a bit of a bug in my head about the Alfa. I spent the last few weeks trying to love the Alfa enough to justify the cost, but I couldn't. The big short comings were the fact that I can't drive it 4 months a year, my service advisor basically telling me that if I don't drive it in the winter it'll be in the shop every spring, and the most fun pieces of it being out of reach without dying/going to jail on public roads.
I had such a wonderful time owning it and am so glad I did. It's been the finest year of car guy-ing of my life. That said, it was time for it to go and now allows me to do other silly things (a true sports car, maybe a TRUK, more travel, more whiskey, more rich people stuff).
I lost about 22k on the Alfa. Was it worth it? Absolutely.
Dill details:
Alfa trade value - 52k (I wanted between 48 and 54 so was pleased)
R Sticker - 42k
R price - 39.5
Overall, I'll say it again, the Alfa was fucking fantastic. If I lived in a place without a winter I suspect I would have overlooked the rest and it would still be with me.

Ah that explains the 42k Sticker. is[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 9:50 am
They do. I'm not sure if that's because I have the upgraded wheels or they all do, but I think they all do.
Usually 41,xxx dsgay is closer to 43. But the black wheels which look much nicer than the stock plot sawblades are something in between.
I’m a bit surprised you think the R is that close in fun. Have you driven the sti/wrx/hyper ?
Impressive you went for They all come with summers. So you have the black pretoria's?[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 9:50 am

Interesting, i really liked the golf in terms of refinement the adjustable shocks are magic compared to the garbage in my m3, but that was where the advantage ended.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 9:59 amI have and put them around the same mark, just with varying degrees of "rawness."max225 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 9:53 am

I think that class of car competes so well with the Alfa/M3 because of the accessibility of the fun. If was able to hit a track once a month it wouldn't be a comparison, but for backroads and daily smiles, the 40k economy performance hatch/whatever things perform damn well.
I totally get it but I just wish it was a bit more distinctive and loud?! Something was missing for me, great car though, can’t go wrong with a golf. Congrats
Rev matching is significantly better with it. I don't understand what VAG was thinking releasing pedals like that on the MQB cars. Then again, the GTI and R are the only enthusiast vehicles with a manual on the MQB platform so I guess they didn't care.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 10:00 amTHANK YOU. I WILL miss the rawness that the Alfa gave (and an ME has) but I figure I can buy myself back into that with a second car if I miss it too bad.
Thanks!

Did you go with the big black tips or the normal ones?[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 10:16 amAWE switchpath. Wanted to maintain factory valves control.

90mm or 102mm?
Won't have to worry about cleaning them as much either.

That sounds awesome! I have an exhaust on the and it was still quiet until I added the resonator delete.. now it is a bit loud at times (adult talk low RPM, windows open, sport mode -okay in comfort), but just right at full throttle!
My recommendation is an aftermarket resonator that comes with the exhaust.
I don't think the AWE one has an extra resonator. Just the one muffler at the back.Tarspin wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 11:58 amThat sounds awesome! They are easy and cheap to add... and since he is already buying the axle back it is probably worth living with for a while before adding any changes. It might sound just right, it's very subjective.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 12:03 pmI don't think the AWE one has an extra resonator. It's pretty good with the valving system, but just a little bit too much volume at times for somebody as as we are. Congrats bro, sounds like a really nice car![user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 1:13 pmThis is my plan. Resonator less videos make me a bit nervous for drone or subie sounds.
