Soooo maybe it's my upbringing in MI where the ground doesn't move, but I find it a bit shocking how people on the west coast are about earthquakes. It's not an IF but a WHEN the "big one" hits and decimates all.
It was a bit of a consideration in our moving. I don't want my life ruined by a natural event everyone knows is coming.

Yeah growing up literally on the San Andreas fault line you just get used to them. Re: big one, it’s not so different than people living in hurricane zones or in tornado alley. Nature gonna nature, and there are a million other reasons to leave California before even getting to the earthquakes.

Yep. And I will have zero sympathy for you when your house is rubble after "the big one".Desertbreh wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 6:46 pmPussyDetroit wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 5:54 pm Soooo maybe it's my upbringing in MI where the ground doesn't move, but I find it a bit shocking how people on the west coast are about earthquakes. Tonight will be junk food, video games and Netflix until I can't keep my eyes open anymore.
Netflix has Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse and Wreck it Ralph 2, which I may watch in between...

Mother Nature isn't sending her best natural disasters, only the criminal ones.

Get one of those floor standing AC units. You’ll be back to wearing sweaters in 30 mins.troyguitar wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 4:38 pmNo AC so it takes 3 nights to get back down to semi-reasonable levels...[user not found] wrote:

We have earthquake insurance, but I have always viewed the big one as an opportunity to work remotely from Puerto Vallarta on our book of business' insurance issues due to Armageddon, at least a couple million bucks worth of work there, and then retire.
I'll send you a photo of my demolished Cali Shitbox with me holding a frosty glass with three fingers of Lagavulin in it, giving no fucks whatsoever. All these people whose "lives are destroyed" because their house gets wiped out by natural disaster? That ain't me son, that ain't me you're looking for. Send my insurance check to the hotel.

Yeah, except for potentially getting killed, the big one is just life for me. A welcome one at that.Detroit wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 5:57 pmDesertbreh wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 5:46 pm
