Yea...you could make money on that without a doubt...but not if you modify it.

It's not really a cream puff anymore. I've put almost 5k miles on it so I'm just gonna keep driving it.

:bruh: do you hate life right now or something?
Nah...just a bunch of shit going on.

Garage estimates coming in over what I told the wife I thought they'd be (oops) and now she wants blood to move the project forward. We agreed I'd sell the Corvette if I didn't have to give it away.

So I cleaned it up, took photos, wrote a description, and then listed it for way too much. I don't expect to even get a response on the listing, but at least I'm showing effort.

Now is probably the last decent time to sell a C5 in MI. June/July is when values are highest AND there isn't a flood of C7's yet from the C8 launch. Once the C8 launches and C7's flood the market, all earlier generations will suffer in valuation. I either sell it now or keep it forever. I'm OK with either outcome since I will not give the car away.

The thing is a riot. It literally needs nothing...it's as turnkey as a C5 can get IMO.

But convertible C6 values are really appealing lately...I think it's C6's that pose the biggest threat to C5 values.
Honestly, I've seen SOOOOOO many C5s for sale at rock bottom prices on facebook groups. There's a shit ton of base models going for 8-10K, and I've seen a handful of Z06s going for as low as 14K. It's a shitty time to be a seller right now as there's so many options.
:dat:

I think mine is a $10K vehicle now... it's pretty nice and tastefully modded plus the 50th AE is interesting to some, but at 108K... totaled.

Accurate.

Mine is too modded...it's worth $15k tops.

I mean, that seems fair to me :iono:

Chris's car is unique - he has a lot in it. Cars like mine, I am not really mad that it's worth $10K... it's still worth 20% of original MSRP which after 16 years is better than most anything else mass produced. It's also still worth over 50% of what I paid for it after five years, 40K miles, and a good amount of track time... what else does this?

Yeah. I bought my 08 GTI for about $21K I think, $26 total with TT&L and all that shit. I ended up selling it a couple of years ago for about $6K. It was heartbreaking. I paid 20K for the Z06, and figured that with me adding miles I could probably sell it for 17-18K if I had to, after a few years... To me this was an acceptable depreciation. I bought it with 70K and I think I'm at about 84K miles now. Every time I get a wild hair up my ass and want something faster or different I remember how 1) cheap the insurance is, 2) I don't need to do anything more to it power-wise, 3) it's holding most of its value, 4) oem parts are relatively cheap since I've already paid for the power mods that have a corvette tax, but now it's all just maintenance.

Last night I was driving home. Heater on at like 80 or so. maybe 3 or 4 clicks up on the fan speed. All of a sudden I start hearing this weird flapping sound coming from the inside of my dash. Turned off the all the air and it went away. Air back on and the sound came with it. Heat still worked just fine but that annoying flapping sound persisted. After about 15 or so minutes the sound all of a sudden stopped.
:notsure:
Was that the blower motor I was hearing?
Vette forum said it was located passenger side under dash. The sound i was hearing seemed to be coming from right behind the radio.

Watching the C8 reveal right now. So much dramatizing. Release the fucking thing. Why so fucking late too?

California release, the only state that matters.

:)

A couple neat things, but overall the car is BLAH to me.

The front axle lift with GPS was about the neatest thing.

And, base non-Z51 starting "under $60k" is exactly what I expected. ~$70K for a Z51 with options just like my 2014 C7 Z51.
