That's really interesting. I'd expect more DSGs.

Right...so shouldn't they pretty much all be DSG? Or the cars are sitting while the DSG cars sell?

It seems that with the MK7 gen there are quite a few 's the GTI/R is really catering to an enthusiast crowd it seems... I don't mind 's when it makes sense but in this case... It don't know.

It's a tough call. DSG is outstanding. I'd personally go because I like that in such a car. All my GTIs were and they were great.
For a DD all-arounder where you live, DSG seems like the better option.

I am torn on it... I know a lot of people bitch about the in the gti/r but I really liked it. But on the other hand i'd want the woman to drive it as well. I am I ever believed in the whole "traffic" excuse for it, its simple with a manual... stick in 1st or 2nd and let it roll.

Smog issues can be handled easily...........you just need a photo of the EPA sticker on the car before you buy it to make sure there is not a problem. Most will say 50 state compliant/specifically state CA compliant. When I bought the GS in Texas I had a major "Oh Shit" moment taking it to the DOL here not sure what my sticker would say......but LS3 BRO, tree hugger motor 50 state compliant.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 1:00 pmYea out of state dickery isn't ideal. I'd obviously do it for the right price. But "right price" is likely not found out of state. Deals on cars in cali are plentiful, and this isn't exactly the rarest car on earth.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 11:12 am
No...I mean you have to take a vehicle you purchased out of state (even if new) to get it smogged before you can register it. I had to do it with my JK that I bought in Vegas. You don't have to do that when you buy the vehicle from a dealer in CA.
Cars are built with different emissions labels depending on where it's sold (dealer state). Back when I did it in 2012, it didn't matter...as long as it passed smog, which obviously the new vehicle did. I don't know if there's been any rule changes since then about bringing NEW cars in from out of state.

One more food for thought Sparco Asseto gara in silver is what I'll do in terms of tires.
Around 20lbs a wheels and 18x8 which is the ideal size for this car IMO.
$192 a pop or about $800 a set.
These are interesting also...
Hmmm something similar to BROtiforms would be also

Nah, I never understood the traffic thing either. Even my car with the light ass flywheel that's super touchy isn't bad once you get used to it.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 1:55 pmI am torn on it... I was referring more to the woman plus lots of hills aspect.

I have the C4’s on my car. Mine were grey. They were awesome for cleaning and you really felt the weight difference. Pair it with a great all season like AS3+ or DWS and you’re golden.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:09 pm One more food for thought Sparco Asseto gara in silver is what I'll do in terms of tires.

I personally HATE wheel branding on a wheel. But mostly because I prefer OEM look.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:09 pm One more food for thought Sparco Asseto gara in silver is what I'll do in terms of tires.

You could probably trade then 19's with some GTI bro with 18's and possibly make money on the deal. Would be my plan.

Hey what are these called ? Those are exactly the ones I was looking for. 18s?
TR Motorsport C4, $164.30 per wheel. Damn that's 1/2 the cost of my M3 tire... but only color options are black or light gray... I wonder what they look like in light g@y.

Nankang Tire. I would take out the lettering 0FG. I just have no use for summer tires in an egg.

At points I contemplated a WRX and maybe an STI. But STI is not fuel efficient enough with a tiny tank which would likely me and WRX is just too slow. even a GTI felt much better when I drove them back to back. Something about that 2.slow Subaru engine didn't feel right to me.

What was the last WRX you drove? I thought they improved the engine or something in the last few years?max225 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:26 pm At points I contemplated a WRX and maybe an STI. The car is supposed to be a 15 year-old's wet dream. So it looks like a Hot Wheels caricature of a ricer car. Mission accomplished.

2017 Wrx Premium brand new with 37k sticker it had far less low end than the GTI. However it was GTI was dsgay.. so maybe that's what masked it.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:32 pmWhat was the last WRX you drove?
