It'll be interesting to see at which level the Wrangler sales will stabilize. I mean it is certainly not a vehicle for everyone, it is a bit shocking that it is moving as many units as it is. There has been a lot of pent up demand from the JK guys trying to switch over, and with super high resale values, the "payment" will be similar for most poor fucks driving SUVs they can't afford.

It's uncharted territory, IMO. There's never been this much capacity, so it's reaching (if it already hasn't) oversupply. The rest of the year will be really interesting.

It’s also never been such a viable, nice day to day car for life, so maybe they can steal sales from other stuff. Plus if it’s the same money as a 4Runner you’d have to be high off your ass to get that prehistoric Toyota and that’s really the closest competitor?

Yea, true. It's amazing how many people buy 4Runners. Now it's because it's so ancient it's "cool" because it's "simple" or whatever.

If it has no merit, for sure. But buying a Toyota because they have not wronged you due to stellar reliability ... I can get behind that

Solely going to one specific brand without even considering other options is what I'm referring to. My mom does that shit with Lexus/Toyota. She's bought a 2005 Highlander, 2008 RX 350, 2010 RX350, 2014 RX 350, and a 2017 RX 350. When she decided that she needed a truck in addition to her RX 350, she bought a 2018 Tacoma. Not once has she ever looked at anything else.

She's the type of person who would blindly buy a 4Runner without even considering any other option.

Most people would cross shop before making a 40k purchase but obviously there are plenty of people like that and others like :plac:

Ray ray has done this. Despite a few gripes and selling/buy a car every 3 years... (refuses to look at lease options) he buys a new honda pilot like clockwork.

Talks about maybe shopping. Walks into honduh dealer as talking wallet. Gets fleeced. Walks out with new honduh.

He was also cross shopping a honda pilot and a new landrover range.... without ever actually driving a range.... only to justify the great deal/value on Pilot. :derp:

If you're going to be brand loyal, that's a better way to go than say, Jaguar or Range Rover

A first owner for a Range Rover doesn't usually own it out of warranty so it's not like the give a fk about any repairs unless their newish car starts leaving them stranded next to the Chanel store on Rodeo drive.
