Probably not in a nursing home. You would want a car that sent NO MESSAGE, not one of affluence, not one of poverty. Something like Troy is currently driving.

I have to say, the Veloster R Spec was a really solid little car, I would support anyone getting it, in some ways I wish I would have, but the feet not fitting in the pedal box right was kind of a breaker.

I've rented a 1 series in Hamburg to Berlin back in '16, it makes my GTI feel like a midsize sedan in comparison, pretty cramped. Drives just as good as I was expecting. I had a carry on luggage in the backseat too.

n55 are better in that respect, and I know n54 got recalled for fuel pump since they eat it for breakfast due to its design flaw.Apex wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 11:33 amI've never driven one, but I did see there is a 135is at a localD Griff wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 11:15 am
Ever driven one? They're fantastic. Basically like performance in a better size, while being much more usable day to day with backseats, no scrape, better ride/interior.
I actually find them to be rather attractive and better than the two series, but I'm obviously.
I should drive one, for sometime. Maintenance on the N54/55 is something I'm a little about. On paper they seem like fantastic machines.

30 year old BMW... lets start with that.
Then it is essentially 2 I6s screwed together, 2 ECUs, 2 MAFs etc. So everything is essentially twice as unreliable as an average 325 of the same time frame. Now... A 325 from the time frame is actually quite reliable, compared to most modern things, however, it is unfortunately offset by the fact that it is a 30 year old car well outside design specifications, possibly with bad service histories, which would automatically disqualify any purchase.
So ... Repair costs are mostly OK (if car was maintained, visually it looks to be so)
Repairs (engine related) will happen 2x as often as with a BMW I6.
For an enthusiast... I'd say it is a decent vehicle to drive mildly and enjoy. Since the cost of entry into something that only a 1% was able to afford 30 years ago is now much more palatable and you as a subsequent owner will never lose 100k inflation adjusted in depreciation, however you may face 20-30k in maintenance over the same time frame. (30 years and 120k miles)

This should be priced a few k cheaper I think, but would be a fun car. Color and wheels are 5/7.
