the skill sets here are nuts if you look at what the members have accomplished and you have direct contact with troy who knows a boat load about your car. That thing is well built! Congrats on the purchase!

I'll definitely be sticking around! Only had the car for 3 days, but that plan is to buy a nasty cam, port heads, and longtubes. After that, I'll be looking into a set of coil overs. It pulls a little to the right, so i'll have to sort that out. there's also a pretty decent oil leak that needs to get taken care of. I got rid of my MK5 GTI so i did't have to deal with leaks, but here I am doing the same thing with the . I will be starting an instagram page dedicated to the car. Definitely keep y'all updated

Funny enough, this forum was actually originally an offshoot of Golfmk6.com, many of us (myself included) have also owned GTIs. I have a 50AE C5 with a few mods that I participate in track days and fun driving with. There is an amazing amount of knowledge on here about the C5, I've gotten tons of help working on/improving mine and I think we have six or seven active members now with you who are current owners, plus several former. Where in the country are you?
I would suggest PMing for specifics on the C5Z , he is very dialed in and thorough and one of the people I mentioned who's helped me out with a lot of C5/tracking knowledge. Some of us our in and out of the forum, but I'm sure he'll reach out when he's around. Is the oil leak on it from the engine? Most common leak in these things is the rear diff, mine has a slight leaky butt.
I was actually lucky enough to ride in what's now your car on the Tail of the Dragon back in 2015 or so and it's fantastic. So glad it's back in the family!

I've got a base 03 Coupe that I did heads and cam on. Went with a BTR Stage 2 cam and Livernois CNC ported 243 heads. I learned that you really need to chose heads and cam carefully for how you want the car to perform.

Also, oil leak is very likely the oil pressure sensor. Common issue that's not expensive to fix.

where in the blue Fuq is ?????????
is also possible, I just replaced. You have to remove the intake manifold to access, but it wasn't too bad a job. I'd suggest using an OEM part, my Advance Auto replacement unit only lasted like a month.Detroit wrote:Also, oil leak is very likely the oil pressure sensor. Common issue that's not expensive to fix.

We've been talking in PM's (which for some reason are now called DM's? ) and on the phone. It seems like the car is largely still in good shape minus a few things like the new oil leak.Irish wrote:

Holy shite!Purpc5z wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 3:35 pm About to blow some minds right now!
I'm the new owner of PoorVette/TroyVette. I've continually had my mind blown these last few days since I found this forum. Had the urge tobuy a c5z. At first I was very skeptical about the car. The dealership had absolutely no knowledge on the car at all, except the dealership bought it from a CarMax auction. Has wilwood brakes, audi velvet purple, stainless steel brake lines, poly bushings all the way around, show throw shifter, ATI damper, vararam intake, ridetech shocks, 180 thermostat, Ron Davis radiator, LEDs all the way around, halo taillights, as well as the trans pump still in the fender(super confusing.) The dealership had no clue what the pump was just urged me not to touch the switch. I bought it on 3/6/19 so I've only had it for less than a week. I plan on racing this car autocross, SCCA time trails, and road course racing. Before that, I need to dial the car in. But, in order to do that, I need to know everything that has been done to the car.
Liking ther car more and more as I drive it. Just need to figure out why it's running hot. Also need to track down an oil leak.
Any and all info is appreciated.
