Year of the :plac: - Average Ownershit Length
Given all of the going on recently, I thought it would be fun to see DFD's average length of ownershit on cars. I calculated by adding up the number of months I've owned each car and dividing by the number of cars.
An average of 37.6 months for me if I don't include the BMW, it kind of skews the numbers as I've had it for one month, 31.5 months if I include it.
I've had:
1993 Ford Taurs - 15 months ('05-'06)
1997 Honda Shitvic - 66 months ('06-'12)
2012 GTI - 33 months ('11-'14)
1990 Miata - 23 months ('12-'14)
2003 Corvette - 51 months ('14 - present)
2014 BMW Kamry - 1 month ('18-...)

Having to commandeer a bangbus certainly doesn't require one to have a nice DD. AsD Griff wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 6:17 pm An average of 37.6 months for me if I don't include the BMW, it kind of skews the numbers as I've had it for one month, 31.5 months if I include it.

Pretty proud of the C5 length , for DFD. I actually sold the GTI shortly after starting that gig for that exact reason, and bought a Corvette.

I'd have to go to my records, but I believe I owned my C5 for right around 6 years... so you're gonna pass me at point... Purchased in 06 and sold in 2012... 2002 with 19k miles sold at 59k

I've only driven mine 30k or so miles, sitting at 105K IIRC, so it's totaled, may as well keep at this point.

I'm ignoring high school and college, but this is my best guess:
reatta - jan 2006 - dec 2011 72 months
gti - dec 2011 - june 2013 18 months
s4 - may 2012 - nov 2013 19 months
c5z - june 2013 - june 2017 48 months
allroad - oct 2013 - feb 2014 4 months
vibe - feb 2014 - march 2018 49 months
mr2 - june 2017 - march 2018 9 months
rx8 - jan 2018 - ?? probably jan-feb 2019 ~13 months
8 cars, 232 months = 29 months per car.

What lasted longest? I'm guessing your iA, likely due to the fact that college - no money for I don't think my Shitvic would've been around for 5.5 years if any other options had been possible.[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 6:27 pm 16 month average over 10 cars since 2006.

Half of my cars have been coupes too. Ain't no linebackers riding in the back seat with
My actually had the rear bench removed so that the seat backs would fold flat, so I effectively had 5 of 8 cars as coupes - or 5/7 if you ignore the stupid allroad anomaly.

As the only published author in a well-known motorcycle publication in the room...
Also, 60% of my cars that I actually bought (so all of them but the Taurus) were two doors. Civic coupe, C5 and Gayata, Kamry and were the only "practical" four door vehicles. My gf calls the Bimmer a "dad car" too.

I might be changing my vote, do I need to include beater mules that were solely purchased to keep :myprecious: away from the nasty weather and work related bs equipment/tool haulage? I've abused a few cars for that sole purpose, but if they are included my totally changes. For cars i bought because I liked them:
240sx=4yrs
JettaMK4=5yrs
TL=5yrs
TDI=5yrs
Poorvette=3yrs
Gorf=at least 5 yrs, targeting 8.
Beaters (overlapping nicer cars):
Protege=1yr
Ramcharger=2weeks ( pulled out in front of me in the worst possible way)
Caliber=1yr
Durango=1yr
Civic=1yr
Sentra=0.5yrs
I voted 5-6yrs but if I do a blend I'll be at like 2-3yrs.
