Yeah, I'm basing that off of your quote. It explicitly states that 87 won't cause any ill effects on engine longevity, just that it can cause reduced performance.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 21, 2018 10:06 amDoes it ? I pulled that quote straight from bmw.com for a 2014 model year ...D Griff wrote: ↑Wed Nov 21, 2018 9:53 am
Sooo... it says it will run fine without any effect on engine life on 87 RIGHT IN THE MANUAL. Also, it's like $10 per tank difference. Last night, for example: Regular: $2.31, Premium: $3.01. So the difference is about $500/year. Not insignificant for the poors. All of that said after giving it some thought and discussion, I'll probably just use 89. It says (implies) right there in the manual that there will be no difference in performance/engine life between 89/91.
I’d try to do 89 says it is still acceptable. 87 is status

The truck runs on 87.
The GTO and El Camino run on 93. The engines are 11.5:1 and 10.1:1 respectively, with the El Camino having iron heads. I usually try to fill those two up on a Tuesday when Shell knocks $.20 off premium gas.
I will be a Tuesdays guy from here on out if so.
FWIW I have only ever put 93 in the

I refuse to love more than 15 miles from work. I'm at 10 now and it's solid.

15 is pretty much the minimum to be considered as a long commute as well. Whether with or without traffic.
