Supposedly is faster, drives better, and epic MPG improvement for $800 more. Also, a little side note, Toyota warranties their hybrid systems for 8 years / 100k, and batteries for the same. That means the batteries, electric motors, inverter, voltage regulator, and in some cases the transmission are extended warranty from the factory.

I would absolutely hybrid. They're quicker, smoother, quieter and get better fuel economy. In the last gen car, it was about a $1000 price delta from gas to hybrid when comparing like for like models and equipment. It pays for itself in the brake jobs alone - Toyota hybrids get 100k miles out of a set of brakes like it's nothing, whereas you're replacing brakes every 25-35k on gas ones, not to mention the 100k hybrid powertrain warranty and fuel savings.

It's also faster 0-60 so it's clearly better.

As a service advisor, I hated the Toyota hybrids. They don't break down, don't need as much service, and generally last forever. They have created a near bulletproof system. The worst it EVER got was hybrid battery packs wearing out around 175-200k miles for about 20% of owners that got there.... and then they'd goodwill the battery pack and we'd charge the customer $500 in labor to swap it out for "customer satisfaction".max225 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 5:10 pmBut all this added complexity ....Johnny_P wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 5:07 pm

There is hardly any drawback really. "Oh but it has a CVT so it sucks." Meh, Lisa's Cmax has a toyota style system and CVT and it's fine to drive. Actually relaxing to drive in the city believe it or not. Buttery smooth and plenty of power. It's just ugly as sin lol.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 5:19 pm I would absolutely hybrid.
