troyguitar wrote: Sat Sep 15, 2018 4:25 pm It does seem like those are the 2 popular options. I just want to go WOT without getting tickets on some smooth-ish winding trails, no interest in mud or jumps or rocks or being some kind of "explorer" - Oregon Trail was better as a pc game.
I often drive quite fast on flat dirt trails because my truck is so good at it. 50mph feels like :plaid: on dirt, and kicking the back end out is awesome and easy in 2WD with the rear end locked. No need to jump or blast through mud.
That's more of my interest in off-roading, pretty much like a track day that doesn't cost $500+/day. Dunno how to begin to look for anything like that :doe: and certainly couldn't :doit: with a :wankel:

I was thinking that a small faux ADV bike like the :fax: man bought would be good. Ride out to camp, dump luggage, go :stig: for awhile, eat some food and chill out. Like "backpacking" or MTB but more fun because of internal combustion.

I just don't know how to begin with something like that, especially since the first rule IMO is that you never ride alone. We used to do that same thing on snowmobiles back in the day and it was great, I figure there must be people doing it on dirt bikes or the little side-by-side things in warmer climates.

Even in a :truk: I would not want to go out alone, too many dumb things can happen.

Find a forum or a Facebook group and start doing some light reading and then buy yourself a bike and commit to some rides.

The Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route was designed for adventure riding, I’m planning on doing some of it later this year with Dplac and hopefully a few others. I’ve gotta start planning that.
Forums and Facebook groups are great places to find other people to adventure with. I’ve gone wheeling with tons of strangers, it’s a good time.

I wouldn’t go alone unless you’re ridiculously prepared. The likelihood of getting a bike impossibly stuck is low, but some sort of spare tire solution would be critical. We go out alone in our :truk: but only do so with the winch, tool kit, spare tire, etc, etc. I’m confident that we can get out of anything too hairy, but it’s still wise to go with someone else.

I’d rather not powder coat a brand new set of wheels... Now the black DirtyLife wheels a guy has for sale on the Colorado forums would be a different story.

Also, I hit 10,000 miles today, and am getting emails about needing an erl change.
I'll get to it this weekend.

:word:

I'll let it ride for a min, I'm not super concerned with it.
I'm hoping my :dillerman: will do the same :doe:

"Oh you're going to have to bring it in?"
"Fuck it, I'll buy the part then."

If you DIY, just grab the shim piece from the TSB. If :dillerman: is doing it, they might do the full leaf pack like my guy did.

I also chatted with him outside after he brought my truck up front for a few minutes. He's driving a customers diesel colorado for a few days and wants his dad to get one, but his dad is a die-hard taco guy. He loved my truck though, gas with the 8AT is a peppy setup comparatively.

But I'm :wrong: for chatting with my SA for a few minutes and not just demanding my keys and storming off.

I still haven't noticed the lean/sag on mine, and the dealer hasn't said anything about it the times I've taken it in either. Next oil change though I may ask them to take a look.

I'd love to just dump it for a ZR2 they have, or even a new Silverado they have, but it's the wife's turn for a new vehicle and we're trying to figure out what, and when, that'll be making it's way home.

These can be run as true bead locks doe. Changing out the ring so they're DOT compliant or full off-road :ramz:
