I think we did this back on GolfMk6, but it hasn't been discussed here to my knowledge. What is everyone's car ownershit history?
Here's mine
1993 Ford Taurus - 2004-2006
if I have pictures of this one on my computer, somewhere though. It was teal.
1997 Honda Civic DX Hatch - 2006-2011
2012 VW GTI - 2011-2014
1990 Mazda Gayata - 2012-2014
2003 Chevrolet Poorvette - 2014- present
2012 Ford F550 (work owned, solely driven by me) -2014-present

First year of this job and I've still not gotten a pic as good as that Mt Rushmore shot, although I do have a few cool action shots in that thing. I will find more later, my buddy Maxx and I drove it from Charlotte to LA a couple of years ago and took it to some National Parks and stuff.
I've driven that truck more than any other vehicle - 81,000 miles and counting, so I feel like it deserves a mention on my list. I should calculate cost per mile in it

Cool list , never knew you had the Firebird and Prelude, both are interesting. Only one from DFD?
It's cool, I feel like it's likely that I'll own another GTI, Corvette, and Miata, almost certainly at least one of them. Hell another Civic isn't even out of the range of possibility, the Si seems like a decent DD option.

Not really including them as that would balloon the lists for no reason. I prob drove the crown Vic more than the average encounter but didn’t put it on the list as it is “technically” my dads

My first friend to drive in high school had a Reatta. Funny how we all thought that car was fast.troyguitar wrote:1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass

These were all cars “given” to me by my parents and I had exclusive use of them even though they were not under my name.
2006 Porsche Cayenne (hand me down after parents got a 2012 Cayenne. Had that one from 2011-2012, I really didn’t like the attention I was getting from people and students at school so I got out of that.
2012 2.5 Golf (miss this one the most) from 2011-2014
2013 MK6 GTI Drivers Edition from 2014 - 2018
Under my name:

1999 Mercedes c230 - only had it when i had my learners permit, about 2 weeks when i got my paper temp license. But 8 years old at the time and my dad didn’t want me to have any premium brand as my first car, oh and first car when we moved to US. Yeah not really my car, but as long as i have driven it solo, i may have that right, right?
1990 Corolla hand me down from cousin, has about 220k miles when I got it, learned with, only drove it to school, basketball practice, never drove it out of the county had it less than a year
2004 Acura TSX, 5pd Auto. Hand me down from mom. She used to commute to DC, been to NYC probably 6 times, got it when my corolla died on me (it was poorly maintained and driven to ground when my cousin had it), had it from 2008-2012 from 70k-140k miles. Delivered pizza, drove to NY twice, drove to few VA colleges, ski resorts. I was simply bored with the car. Got a better job and traded into where I ended up dfd in the first place.
2012 mk6 GTI got it at 21, i was the cosigner, but I paid monthly payments and insurance. My dad was as long as im the one making payments. Had it until 38k miles when she got totaled. Learned lot about cars and modding it with that car thanks to golfmk6
And now
2015 GTI, SE with lightning pack, fender audio, broken sunroof, and sweatler. Currently 65k miles, keeping it atleast till pay off or right before it needs the next DSG service. So atleast another year i’m keeping it

2002 - 2008
1997 Grand Prix GT coupe
I went with this one. Top-swapped the motor to put the GTP heads and blower on it, put in a big cam, bigger injectors and fuel pump, headers and a full exhaust, built transmission, and got all of 13.5 @ 104 out of it. The '97 GTs had a different transmission than all other models and years, which was vacuum-controlled instead of electronically controlled, and it was never really happy with the extra power. The trans also meant I couldn't swap to the GTP ECU without a full wiring harness swap, so the fueling was never quite right. People told me it wouldn't be worth doing all of this in a '97 GT due to those differences, but of course I did it anyway. Learned a ton doing almost all of my own wrenching, though.
2008 - 2010
1998 Grand Prix GTP sedan
I bought this one from a high school friend after I graduated from college. Sold the '97 for $4k and stole his for $6k. Had only 60k miles and had never seen a winter. Basically the same mods as my '97 except it had a much more streetable cam, all done by said friend. I did some suspension upgrades, had a better tune put in the car running lower boost, and ran a 13.1 @ 107. Had only 70k on it when I sold it...shouldn't have. The thing was still mint, but my wife's car was paid for and we didn't want to end up needing to replace both cars at the same time. Also still had the stock transmission, which was probably something of a ticking time bomb at that power level.
