I always get a better deal on tires by going to my local tire place. When you factor in shipping and labor to install, it's a wash if not cheaper.

There's a shop at the end of my street that's been in business since 1928. They always give me outstanding deals on tires and ZFG rotation/repairs if I need. They're 5/7.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Jun 07, 2018 6:22 pmPlus local business support + lifetime repairs + lifetime rotations. (Rotations only applicable on Brahhoe at this time)

A friend of a friend of mine works at a place. That's where I go to get all of mine mounted and balanced. He can't beat tire rack for the tires I need, and neither can a couple of other shops. But he's cool with me bringing shit in to get swapped out on. I bring em a couple of dozen donuts when I go because one time I had a sheet metal screw in a tire 2 days before an autocross and they took it off the rim and patched it for me for free.
So free donuts it is because yalls mah peoples.

In case any of y'alls are questioning the greatness of TAR that I found, I just got a copy of my sales order.
Tire rack price for just 4X 315s shipped to me is $1,635.
I ordered two tires for my friend's MR2, total price shipped for 6 tires: $1,649. EVEN THE SALES TAX IS CUT IN HALF MOTHER FUCKER!
It's like a fucking fireworks stand up in hur. BUY 4 ROMAN CANDLES, GET 2 FREEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously. Find me a local shop that can beat that price and I'll fly there and give out handjobs and rusty trombones for the whole month of Mardi Gras.

$1 per mm,[user not found] wrote:is strong.Acid666 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 07, 2018 4:19 pm Ok, I just gave this shop a call. They're legit.
My tires on TireRack are $362 a piece. With shipping and tax I'm looking at $1,635 total.
This shop, $315 a piece. Dude told me to add my local sales tax to it 4X, and then add $10 per tire.
So
4X $315 = 1260
9% Sales Tax on $315 = $28.35, X4 = 113
$40 for shipping
Grand total of $1,413
For a total difference of $222.

They'll need you to fill out a form which basically creates an account. And you buy like you're a race team. They're a BFG distributor for race teams, so if you're looking for Rivals, these are your guys.
Also, dear lawd are them expensive tars.

First, do you know what tire sizes mean?
width(mm)/sidewall%ofwidth/wheel size
So, if you increase your width by 20mm, you'll also increase the sidewall size by 4mm. That's increasing the overall diameter of the tire, which may have physical fitment issues with the car. It'll also impact the speedo reading, and the car might feel slower. Benefit is more sidewall means better pothole protection and whatnot.
The bigger question is why do you want to change the tire size? 19" wheels are big, if you want more sidewall, I'd be looking to downsize the wheel diameter to an 18 or 17 if it clears the brakes. My Volt has 17's standard, and I put 15's on it in the winter for maximum sidewall.

Thank you. I don't know what tire size means at all.. I was looking at other tire sizes because I want more of a touring tire but the current size doesn't offer much from Michi or Conti, which are my first choice. And I want to do it without buying new wheels.Detroit wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 11:36 amFirst, do you know what tire sizes mean?

Having a low profile set of high performance, even if they are all season, seems like a waste on this car.
But I do like the wheels on the car.

19's are pretty big, and I'm sure there's not much in the way of basic all season sizes that narrow with that diameter. Maybe they make a 245/40 that's closer in overall diameter?KYGTIGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 11:57 amThank you. I don't know what tire size means at all.. This is what I found. From this site. 255/40/19 are basically the same diameter as Oem. Is that legit?Detroit wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 12:28 pm19's are pretty big, and I'm sure there's not much in the way of basic all season sizes that narrow with that diameter. I always use a calculator to figure that kind of stuff out.KYGTIGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 12:35 pmThis is what I found. From this site. 255/40/19 are basically the same diameter as Oem. Is that legit?

The only challenge will be fitting the width. Go out and turn your wheels to full lock and see how much space you have between the tire and the wheel liner...
