In terms of its projected retained value after three years, the 2017 M2 came in at an incredible 76 percent of its $57,795 as-tested price, according to our friends at IntelliChoice. Compare that to our 2015 BMW M3 (at 54 percent) and Jaguar duo 2014 F-Type S and R (both at 50 percent). The M2 is practically an investment.Davestr wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 1:53 pm Motor-Trend long term review of the M2. Not bad overall. The usual nit-pick BS from writers. Oh its so hard to push a button twice.

Thought I had settled on the R but a used 340i with extended warranty keeps gnawing at me.
What could go wrong? I only drive 10k miles a year these days.
Still a few years away but never too early to look

Price on Bimmer?
If I buy a used 340, I'm looking between 35 and 40k range. Gotta be xDrive w/M-sport
Looks like 2018 doesn't have a M-sport "option" anymore.
Not an xDrive but damn. Depreciation

No issues with the DCT while at a light. I keep my foot on the brake - does wonders. No issues with strange motor rev issues - Bad gas lol????max225 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 1:57 pmDavestr wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 1:53 pm Motor-Trend long term review of the M2. Not bad overall. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/bmw/m2/2 ... ct-review/I stopped reading their bullshit at this point.I drove in full-manual all the time to better choose my up- and downshifts. It was more prudent than Sport Plus, smarter than Sport, and smoother than Comfort mode.
This is true... very awkward at many points.although we grew accustomed to it, not having a park button/position and merely shutting the M2 off in gear felt weird
Also true, the DSG in the TDI is a far more refined transmission in a 25k vehicle than the DCT in a 79k vehicleSometimes the engine would rev with the car stationary, then the clutch would grab suddenly, especially when cold.
$43,700 (76%) 3 year residual is Although very HIGH it seems.
Turning the car off is easy. Im in drive, I park, brake on, motor off. WTF seriously read god damn book lol. Thats how it works. You want weird shit. Fly an airplane - talk about procedures up the ass LOL.
M2 doesnt have m2 or m2 buttons. M2-Competition does. Nice to have additional choices. Shocked the MT punks didnt bitch that the car didnt read their minds when driving to provide perfect mode each drive.

So you've never had an issue where the clutch doesn't engage until 1500rpms and then violently pull your head backwards ? They described my issues to the T... which is why I think the DCT should and IS going away.Davestr wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 4:16 pmNo issues with the DCT while at a light. Last I checked we don't need a fancy licence/perfect vision and a history of killing the vietkong to operate a motor vehicle.

No issues with respect to delays and 1500 rpm lurches. They bitch about things and appear to have not read the owners manual. The car is designed to work in a given fashion and they bitch. Every maker has systems requiring specifics steps for useage and control - What a fkn concept. Know your machine. Simple. But we are talking about MURICANS who need desperately to learn to drive in the first place and understand their respective rules of the road as well LOLmax225 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 13, 2018 4:44 pmSo you've never had an issue where the clutch doesn't engage until 1500rpms and then violently pull your head backwards ? PDK is the best dual clutch system. DSG is poverty. I had a new Golf-R for 3 days over the winter. Press the gas at a light, the gearbox builds torque then you appear to move. Seemed like a half second delay sometimes. A very very noticeable delay. Its fast but hardly the standard.
The ZF-8 Auto puts all to shame. Loves torque, shifts nicely and is even raced. Agree DCT concept be shite and needs to die.

FiST is tinted to 30% and I don't have issues at night.

I've had exactly 0 issues with 30% at night and my eyes are terrible.

It is a function of the overall economy everyone is snapping up cars new/used etc. 3.6% unemployment does that thanks to Cheeto.Davestr wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 8:00 am Smaller cars? Opioid addiction at play here? https://www.marketwatch.com/story/used- ... 2018-06-12
Look no further than my CarMax rants, how that company is in business with their pricing model is beyond me

A used "vehicle" means 35-40k USED wranglers, mostly and used trucks at 80-90% of their new price (not the BS MSRP that no one ever pays) even though they are 1-5 years old. Sedans transact far lower, well under 20k. It averages out to around 19k.
Cars uptick is just the poors upgrading their 1990 camrys into 2010 camrys for 8k
