As sexy as the Aprilia is, I don't know if I want another liter bike, and outside of the V4 exotica, I'm not sure it's THAT much of a better bike for the things that I do with the KTM. Either way, I should probably test ride an Aprilia and possibly a smaller displacement bike just to see if I really need that new crack rock.

On top of that, I'm strongly considering an ND within the next year, so saving money for something like that...or at least taking the time to make up my damn mind probably makes more sense.

edit: TL;DR - the :plac: math doesn't make sense at the moment.
I support a ND over a unicorn fart bike.

As I suspect most of the DFD audience would. 90-ish% sure I'm going to keep the KTM, but I'm going to try to test ride an Aprilia sometime over the next couple of weekends to be sure.

I was unproductive in my garage this weekend. Cold -non spring-like - temps prohibited any motivation. I did flip the axle back around on the HF trailer and reinstalled the fenders. Meh.

Another successful trip to the Fap.

I had hoped to take the Honda but couldn’t get a carburetor to stop intermittently pissing fuel all over the ground. Instead I made an 11th hour decision to load up the KTM. And was glad that I did.

The Skyway was ridden at nearly knee dragging pace the entire way - easily my best trip on the Skyway in 6 appearances. Bike setup up helped with fresh fork oil, slightly more aggressive rearset adjustment, and the quick shifter helped free up brain capacity enough to push harder. Image

The FiST rode on new 205/50/16 Re71’s and the grip was impressive, so much so that the brakes were overworked. A quick bleed with fresh fluid and an adjustment to my driving style helped, but I couldn’t push as had as I’d like due to lack of confidence in the pedal. Still quick enough to gumball the tires tho. A full flush and Carbotech pads are waiting in the wings.
Image

The highlight may have been taking a quick drive in [user not found]’s :meata: Great sound, so toss-able. It made the FiST feel like a :truk: The wants are now real for a 2 seater and the casual search for an ND has begun.

Come into the light. That light is the sun that you bask in with the top down in your sports convertible.

Need to figure out the right car:bike ratio. 4 (plus Jill's Fiat) licensed and insured vehicles is too much. A thing or two needs to go. Jill and I talked though - we both seem to be more apt to jump in a convertible thing than gear up and go on a motorcycle ride.

Solution:

Trackbike
road bike
ND
Transit connect workhorse.

You and the wife can trade off driving the ND or the :minivan:

My vote is ND + Fiat + Trackbike + Fiesta.

But, I'm also not a bike head like RJ is.
Well he only wants tags on three things and a non street legal motorcycle is the logical choice here to drop a registration but keep 4 things.

Drop tags and insurance on the Fiat. Driver has shown to be a liability anyway.

He's the last one that's been every year so I certainly hope so.

On the other hand, if he doesn't, that ties me and one another non DFD-er for longest streak of consecutive years attended.

This makes the most sense, but I'm having a hard time coming to grips with the potential of being street-bike-less. 1 bike needs to go for sure, or perhaps both, temporarily at least.
