300 lb set with a bar. Even if the bar is shit at that's 78 cent a pound for the weights.... good price. I can try to resell the bar or keep as a spare.

yea, but i do actually use them sometimes, so there is that.

honestly this set, another pair of 45's, plus some 10 & 15 lb bumpers will do me right as far as weights are concerned. Then the big question is do i go :waxer: on a nice bar. I'm leaning to yes.

Other things I will need for this project: A new to me ~42 inch LED TV, TV wall mount, and entertainment center. I can sell one or two older tv's and the current thing for like 400. I'll attempt a cad layout sketch later if I have time

I just like to poke fun at 35's.

Bumpers are the greatest thing ever. You don't have to go too crazy :waxer: to get a nice bar, and as you've mentioned it's something you are going to have in your hands for 3+ hours a week.

Horse stall mats from Tractor Supply. I'm sure you airboaters have something like that down there.

What is it with people not liking 35lb plates? I was at an LA Fitness a few weeks ago, and they didn't have any in the whole gym...

Commie plates.

:iono: Why use a 35? 25's and 10's seem more useful.

Why move two plates when you can move one? 35's are fully integrated into my plate math.

:wrong: the kid builds a bed out of 45lb plates and learns to love the warm embrace of the cold iron.

:notbad: I will be looking at this project with a considerable amount of interest. As we contemplate retirementish/vacation properties, one of the things I have decided I can't live without is a gym in reasonable proximity. To the extent this can be accomplished in house, it broadens the geographic possibilities.

Is this third bedroom carpeted? What are you going to do about that? Are you ruling out the deadlift?

I'm sure there are cheaper versions, but something simple like this should work
https://www.ironcompany.com/noise-vibra ... adlift-mat

Don't know if it'd be fine laid out on the carpet or not.. don't see why it wouldn't be.
