It's 32F out and the tarz are brand new, so no real impressions at this point other than they are obviously stickier than the old worn out shit. You can absolutely feel the shorter gearing plus reduced weight combo though, the car is noticeably quicker to accelerate. :stig:

Love that troy got an RX8, loved mine when I had it, would love to own another one! Best seating position in any car I’ve ever driven, wish I actually knew how to drive when I owned mine but I’m sure that suspension saved my life on a frequent basis.

Is there anything I can reasonably do about clear coat starting to peel on the front bumper?

Sand it down, blend in some fresh clear.

You'll need to wetsand and blend, then wetsand again.

It'll probably look better than it does now, but it won't be a permanent fix.

Permanent fix would be to have the whole bumper re-painted.
Yeah, proper respray would mean doing the whole car, ain't nobody gonna match up velocity red that's sat in FL sun for several years. Nahgonnahappen. Maybe I'll attempt the blending of new clear at some point, if nothing else but to slow the peeling.

My project now is pulling the nasty old stone guard film, major PITA.

Much improved but the stone guard and the :dillerman: stickers both left shadows. :disgust:

Stickers on cars is :disgust:

I wouldn't mind a Stewart/Colbert or Bartlet presidential sticker, but in the South it might get me shot.

No idea how big it is but I kind of like this thing:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROTARY-COUPE-m ... SwgkRVSx9K

or a generic Mazdaspeed badge:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Mazda-MAZD ... vi&vxp=mtr

or say fuck it and debadge the trunk then cover it with vinyl cut band logos, DIO in the center...

Have you tried polishing it at all?
Not yet but I will, the whole car needs to be done. It's going for PDR this week, then I'll work on polishing and Dr Colorchipping.

I went ahead and got some DIO stickers anyway, worst case I'll put them on my magnetic sheets for SCCA-required stickers. I think I might make a whole fake "sponsor" sheet full of band logos to go at the leading edge of the doors.

This is ridiculous.
It's got me looking more into iRacing and the like... Year-round driving and in cars that I'd never be able to afford in real life? That might be a good idea.

I mean why do you think I've invested in Trukcoin?
:iono:

I'm pretty impressed with the konis and double wishbones on the RX8. It rides better than anything I've ever owned. Stiff chassis = the suspension doesn't have to be so stiff. The only downside to this car is fuel+oil consumption. Seems to be around a quart per 1500 miles and 16 mpg on premium so far. :troywax:

Couldn't you set up an oil-injection system and wouldn't that help with consumption?

I feel like I've seen people do this. Dat 2-stroke wankel.
You're still using the same amount of oil either way, but yeah those systems exist. The off-the-shelf one uses the washer fluid reservoir for oil, so you lose that functionality. Additionally it is only made for the 04-08 engines and it's technically not legal for Street class.

I don't really mind checking the oil, I do that on all of my cars anyway. My S4 actually burned the same amount. It got the same gas mileage too! :derp:

People who pre-mix oil seem to use about the same amount as me. Mixing 0.5 oz/gal = at 15 mpg you're burning 50 oz per 100 gallons in 1500 miles, or about a quart per 1k.
