My mom used to be pretty tech savvy, but she would fall for this 100% now if I hadn't warned her about it. My wife's parents are even older and they fell for it, but refused to give any payment because they are cheap. They refuse to even use a credit card online, everything is in-person or it doesn't happen for them.

You'd be stunned how many young fairly tech savvy folks fall for that one.
2 hours of remote IT support later, we're good.

How does that whole Microsoft thing happen? It's probably enabled as malware and then it transfers into a virus if they click on it?

You'd be dealing with labor, most likely, if she's able to work anything out.
Not worrying about anything until I hear back from her. Then devise a plan on how to proceed.
Would be far more convenient to deal with this when I’m not working on moving in a month.

I’m looking at around a 6k delta there. I’ve got some cash on hand, but need to be sure I have enough to cover all the moving stuff.[user not found] wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 4:34 pmYou're probably gonna need to put some money down. How much do you owe now vs what the car's worth on KBB in fair condition (set a low water mark)?

They had her going to Walmart to get gift cards while they were on the phone. Cashier was like, uh, you're getting scammed.
Sad.

when I was doing Loss Prevention at Target we had a come in with that story. We were apprehending a shoplifter in the process so local PD was there. One of our guys started stalling the until the cops were alerted. Our guy told the our cash registers wouldn’t let him process that transaction and then the cops came and got his info and the number they called from.KYGTIGuy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 5:11 pmMy aunt got taken for 10k+ over the course of a couple months.[user not found] wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 1:10 pm Well, my parents are officially old. Very unfortunate.
We also had a new employee give away $1,800 on a gift card because he got a “call” from “Target Corporation” asking him to see if the “cash registers were working” by loading up a gift card with $1,800 and “confirming” the gift card number, security code, etc and then throwing out the gift card. This is a guy that bragged to me that he’s “REALLY GOOD” at security and he has his license.
I almost slapped him.

The hitch bars were known for getting rusty.[user not found] wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 8:12 pmThe amount of rust on the hitch, is it indicative of the condition of the rest of the underbody?
What concerns me is the shape of the bed and wear on the drivers seat. And that it was Traded in with a rusty tow ball.
Those are 60,000 very hard miles on a work truck there.

From a quick poke around underneath, nothing jumped out at me, other than the rusty hitch/ball.[user not found] wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 8:12 pmThe amount of rust on the hitch, is it indicative of the condition of the rest of the underbody?
