It's not just planes of course, people hauling their effing dogs into every retail environment imaginable.

You're obviously spilling into the middle seat by sitting so far away from the window. We need a picture that shows both sides at the same time.

Photo shows you taking up the entire armrest, 2 of you next to each other would have to be holding hands... How does this counter my argument?

There is a window next to me. I wasn't using the arm rest at all on the other side.

The armrest is a no-go zone. If you need that space, you're too wide. Women seem better about this than men, perhaps because they don't want to be touched by random people...

So you're saying no one should use the arm rest at all?

General etiquette is:

Left Seat- left arm rest | middle seat - both arm rests | right seat right arm rest.

Since the middle seat costs the same but sucks in every other way, that structure is what most frequent fliers consider "fair."
The Troyetiquette is that if you have to use an armrest, you need to drive.

No one should need to use the arm rest, that way people can fit next to each other without being in direct contact. The airline policies say that it's OK if all three people need to take up 100% of the arm rests on both sides of them... which means that their arms are all crammed into the same space as each other. That's not "fitting" at all. How is this not obvious? The policy is inadequate even if it were enforced.

I have to admit I've never heard this as a "rule" and I'm interested to observe compliance or lack thereof with this on future flights.

[user not found] wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2018 2:21 pm Fwiw I think there is a yugggeee difference depending on the airline. The big three have the most frequent flier and the experience with other travelers shows it. Southwest on some routes and times is :notbad: too.

Any airline on a "vacation route" is like the wild west.
