Stock C5 calipers? I like it.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 8:49 pmStock rear calipers with the C6Z51 rotors and brackets are fine with good pads. No need to screw with different calipers back there.Detroit wrote:What about a setup where I move the front calipers to the rear on C6 Z51 rotors? Most of the brake bias is to the front, so with the beefy front calipers, that might be all I need. Would save me $1,000 on Wilwood rear calipers that are worth it in the first place.
Might be worth just a try to see?

That said, anyone familiar with good 295/35/18 tires for a square setup? I need the grip in the rear and the sidewall to keep the wheels from turning into squares.
I'm putting less than 5k miles/year on the car, so I prioritize grip over tire life.

Nope. All my research tells me it'll rub on full lock and hitting a bump at the same time. You just don't do that, and go up curbs at different angles, which I already do. This is a race setup, so I just really drive it from my house to the interstate, then straight driving for 1-2 hours to an event then back.
I actually have some 315s on 18 " speedlines on that are old as dirt. Got a 17/18 set from a local guy online. I put the 315 up front but didn't drive with it. It fit tho and I looked at the clearance at full lock and it clears, but any drop in the suspension it'll hit. So you just have to adjust how you drive it. Not a daily driving thing, obviously

Pretty much setting it up as a full cam car since It gets little casual driving time. I'll replace the Forgestars with the ventus v12s, and the speedlines just for racing. But the speedlines will likely stay on the car 99% of the time.
I looked into buying 2 more forgestars, but these 18s in the front are 9" wide with a different offset. So I can't do a square setup with these 18s. Hopefully I'll be picking up those other 2 speedlines from the guy in Pensacola in a week or so

Perfect for a street car, about a second off the RE71R at autox but they behave nicely and don't squeal much at all.Detroit wrote:You've got the conti sports don't you? How's the grip?

Probably perform well enough for the occasional track day or autox I assume.

Found it. Had to dig a little.
This is the 315/30 on the Speedline 18". I put them on and just turned the wheel and shit with em to see.
These are old ass tires that need to get smoked out.
But this was the tightest angle I could get it at. Hard to really get pics since it's all black plastic.
You can tell that going full lock will rub on a bounce, but you'll rarely be doing any speed at that angle. But going up curbs and shit you gotta watch.
I may put them on the fronts and ride with em just to see how it handles before I ultimately decide to order 4X 315s

HAH! At least you're competition.
Gary's moving to CAM with his TransAm but he's running some budget 200tw tires so I don't expect him to be competitive, which kinda saddens me. I want more people in our time range to race.
My seat time's payin off lately though, I'm pushing it a bit more lately. Last Cenla race I was RIGHT on Zach Lemoine's tail for FTD for the first group. Terry came outta nowhere with a nice time on his last run though. We got screwed with only 4 runs tho and I think had I gotten 1 or 2 more I could of really gotten another second out of it.

Quikjack brethren, I have assembled my QJ, just need some tips.
1. Run the hydraulic lines on top of the frames, yes, noplace else to do it?
2. Power unit at the front or rear?
3. When done using it, use bleeder valve to release pressure before storing?
4. When first using, fill up resevoir with hydraulic fluid, which will then need refilled again after pumping through lines, yes?
4. You just store the lines full of fluid, right? How much leakage is there?
Thanks in advance.

1. EVERY POSSIBLE tailight chrome thingies, completely destroyed paint, note sun annihilated rear window, more dirt on those sweet ramz bro than behind Zil's taillights. An abomination.
Makes me realize I need to do some more exterior modifications to mine.
