Stick them in their ball and bring them to the park. Safe from predators and can wheel themselves around where ever they want to.
Putting her in the ball was always hilarious.

They have to be socialized from a young age, but they're really not good pets for young kids. Kids will want to pick them up and cuddle them, and rabbits, with few exceptions, HATE to be picked up. They're prey animals and when they're picked up they think they've been grabbed by a predator and they'll fight and scratch to get out of your grip. Their back legs are :mindblown: strong and they can really do damage to :baby: skin, or adult skin, for that matter. They're really better for older kids and adults, tbh.
Oh nice, prolly good thing i ask these questions. Today my 6 yr old asked me about :doge: , and i gave him the run down on adoption. He suggests that maybe he will be responsible enough to adopt one when he is 9 or 10.

We had a Guinea pig as kids and she was pretty social with us. But my younger bro was probably 9 by then. 6
Good for your kid to recognize that he's not yet responsible enough to adopt a :doge: . :impressive: FWIW, my buddy adopts his rabbits from a shelter, too.

Guinea pigs, which are closely related to rabbits, by the way, might make a better pet for young kids as they're more easily handled, picked up, etc. But they are nocturnal so they'll be awake at night and make funny little grunting noises which may keep some awake.

They're quiet, affectionate in their own way, full on :lolol: to watch them when they're happy, easily litterbox trainable, etc, but they do take commitment since they're chewers and you have to "bunny proof" things like electrical cords, etc.
One of our old bunnies would chase our :doge: around the apartment. It was :lolol: to watch, since the :doge: knew very well that he couldn't touch the bunny.
Cool!

My buddy's rabbit plays with their :pussy: , too. They chase each other around but the rabbit is faster and more agile so the :pussy: can't catch her.

For a kid, I think a well mannered calm dog is best. Cats are alright but they get prissy and don't want to be picked up and will react with scratching or whatever.
:word:
Like any other animal, rabbits have wildly different personalities. Some can be assholes but most are really sweet. It largely depends on how they're treated, housed, etc, but some are just born nasty.

Agreed on a calm :doge: for a kid.

Some rabbits do well on a leash and can be walked around the neighborhood. Mine hated his leash so we didn't make him try it after the first time.
