You bought your car so cheap, you have little risk, imo.

This fucked $50k investment however...
Yeah it is a shame to give up since the two main trouble areas have already been addressed (leaky ass and balancer).

I've yet to own a car that hasn't plummeted in value to date doe.... so it wouldn't surprise me if Max is right about the depreciation catching up to it.

Even if it goes to $10k, that's still only 4 figures of depreciation over multiple years... You can't afford not to keep it.

Since i :troywax: 'd on my daily i don't feel okay with adding much capital to the car's replacement. It would need to be just as fun in its own way AND have hit rock bottom/appreciating AND cost similar to upkeep. It would for sure be a short list.

I'd even consider an off road something for adventures with the crotchfruit, but we can take the t-reg almost anywhere I'd be comfortable taking kids anyways, so it should be a fun sporty coupe/vert with a good manuel and more confident handling then the C6

"nice" Corvettes of any generation bottom in the mid to low teens. Nice C4's are still in the low teens, solid C5's in the mids and C6's in the upper. And that will probably stay for some time, even when C7 values start to fall. Getting below the $20k mark really opens up the market, which stabilizes prices.

People who are paying $30k+ for C6's today are going to get hosed. But you're in fine shape. Just keep it and enjoy it.

If true, this would constitute the most retarded Corvette financial decisions ever posted on this forum. Ponder that.
You mean trading a :mk6: to :mk6: :jeep: to superbee to :mk6: to WRX in 12 months doesn't count?

I suppose it was on the "old" forum.
Not Corvette :doe:

Most here have made poor :turboyaris: financial decisions.

:dat:

Mine is at 95k miles so the value is probably going to shit... :iono:

I'm in a similar mind set to Surf :doe: right now... I have :plac: desires, it's been since 2014 since I've made a car transaction.

But nothing is as fun and easy to live with for the money as a used Corvette.

I could sell the C5 and get a new JL, but I think within six months I'd miss having a sports car.

I could sell the C5 and get a 370Z or a C6, but would it really be worth $5-10k more money down the pisser to have a car that doesn't really perform better? Just basically newer and better interior. Plus I've dropped that couple thousand into required maintenance and modz, so I'd have to spend that as well.

I could :plac: the C5 for something a bit more agile like an S2K, Gayman/Boxster, FRZ, Miata, but then I'm losing powah and getting something temperamental in comparison to dat GM reliability (other than Miata, those are solid, but even the FRZ seems less reliable than a C5).

Sooo... I want a new car, but it's just... not really easy. I feel like Max. I have money but won't spend it.

Most sensible thing is probably keep the Corvette and hope to add a JL or another GTI to the collection later, depending on circumstances.

You just want to :plac: because you haven't in a while. It's not worth it. Anything else you get will be the same price and inferior in many ways.

Sadly, once you crest 100k, the car's value will drop big time. Best to just drive the wheels off it at that point. Which is fine, it's hard to beat these things.

Oh for sure... but it doesn't change the fact that I want to... maybe I should just buy some cheap shit temporarily, but that would also be dumb. I should probably just do some modz to stay interested.

Plan carefully.

Tearing mine apart last year completely revitalized my interest in it. Beside the fact that it's bonkers, knowing that so much has been done makes me feel more attached to it.

On the flip, I enjoyed doing the work and want to do it again. I'm almost addicted to the project aspect. I'd love to find something else to wrench on. There's not much left on my :poorvette:

I think a light project (no full engine swaps, rust outs, anything like that) would be fun. That's where I started with this WranGAYler thing in the first place, get a cheap TJ and just dick around with it. Then I realized a cheap TJ isn't a thing and it escalated quickly.

It's just hard with no garage and being away a lot leaving me little time.

It would be really neat to get a 300ZX or something and bring it up to snuff to be a daily driver.

As far as modding the :poorvette: :doe: seats would be cool, gearz... not really a ton else I want. One thing holding me back is I don't really love the color. Spending a ton on a car that's not the right color...

Have you ever looked under the hood of a 300ZX? Work on that is :yikes: :nope:

A cheap offroader would be great...but they don't exist anymore. Unless you get a Tracker or Samuri or something (which would be awesome)

Better than scrutinizing every penny of MSRP and tenth of a % of forecast depreciation of a vehicle that doesn't exist yet.

I love Z32's but :nope: on a Turbo model which IMO is really the only one to get as the base V6 isn't really exciting. Kind of sad. They're not reliable at all.

I'd probably get a slow NA, really just want for the looks, it would be fun to :derp: around in. It seems like they may appreciate in value or worst case not lose much. I can get OK ones in my area for like $5k apparently. Still would likely end up being frustrating and a money pit.
