Yeah, I don't see the value of them dropping any time soon. It is the trifecta of desire: big V8, wagon, and manual.Detroit wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 11:23 amMy dad has one. His issue is he doesn't drive it enough out of fear for ruining it's value. It's a 2012 with 35k on it. I told him to just drive and enjoy it. Too many miles on it to be "low" but still far enough from 100k to have some fun.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 11:30 amYeah, I don't see the value of them dropping any time soon. It's like Christmas for car guys. Good content Marshal Zhukov!Tarspin wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 5:49 pm Man I love this thread, I'm not going to recommend anything since many of you know cars better then I do. I would personally pick up a beautifully sorted MR2 gen 2, and have seen some between 15 and 23k, or a 997.2 911 for 60 to 80k, and the NSX has always topped my list and worth the 80k IMO, and will be worth more. I am fond of gen 1 R8s, and somewhat depreciated Evoras, anything mid-engine is special to me. But this isn't about me, it is about the shopper, and I believe it should be based on an emotional stir.

Guy near my office has one of those XJS-Rs that sounds pretty mean when he fires it up but the majority of those things are just bloated old man phallus things like a Caddy, yes?

I think if you bought one with a blower and a nice color you would eventually be on the upswing.D Griff wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 6:00 pmEvora is one of my attainable dream cars... but they seem to just drop in value up to this point. My main issue is I’m not taking a Porsche for $699 oil changes and $4000 30k mile maintenance to the local Porsche rape palace. That’s a complete travesty for me. It’s expensive for the sake of being “expensive”.
Just like the debate on lotus Elise $199 oil changes vs Corolla with the same engine @19.95

I like them but they are just not for me... it strikes a weird balance between luxury/ performance. The exterior styling is just not interesting enough. Nothing about 2000+ wagons appeals to me. There isn't a Porsche dealer here...there's no choice other than driving a few hours down state, which would be for a car like this.max225 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:23 pmSays oil changes were done at “local independent shop” that’s a huge for p car prospects I thought ?Detroit wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:34 am

The price just seems insane to me, but the price of pretty much everything does these days.

I don't understand this culture either. Seems like the thing to do is buy a used Porsche that has been maintained by someone who knows what he is doing BUT IS NOT anointed as a certified Pcar Waffen SS member.max225 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:23 pmSays oil changes were done at “local independent shop” that’s a huge for p car prospects I thought ?Detroit wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:34 am

Your car still runs but it's already taken the hit for being cast out of the tribe.

I actually was close to buying a 2006 with 3k miles at a poorsche for 36k I think it was, 6 years back now. They are good cars but of their price creeps up it gets them closer to 981, which looksRLWake wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 9:19 am ‘03 or ‘04 Mustang Cobra coupes. The Terminators. Find a nice coupe that hasn’t been messed with and doesn’t have a shitload of miles and I doubt they’re gonna lose any value.
As mentioned previously, 987 Cayman S. If you’re looking at a 987.2 a PDK is okay since it’s actually a good transmission but good God stay away from the Shitronic in the 987.1. Manual is best anyways. Find one that’s well optioned (no 5 speed, make sure it’s the 6 speed). There was a really nice yellow one that was well optioned, low miles, and completely stock that went for quite a bit on BaT a couple months ago

Those 987’s are going nowhere but up which makes me kind of sad as they scoot out of reach for me.
And feels way more modern and will likely not depreciate due to “last non turbo poorsche”.
The mid 00, poorsches have horrendous engine issues, scoring, popping bearings, you name it
