Which means I'd have to get a new jeep in Idaho and drive it back... or overpay by $5000. What a time to be alive, cali was the center of Jeep 's and that is certainly no more the case.

Plant was closed from end of March through early July...3 to nearly 4 months of production gone, which is a LOT of volume. I've heard they're at full capacity now, but there's still a hole to dig out of.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:18 pmWell Considering I am 'ing with same supply shortage on my end I shouldn't complain too much, but to be fair we had a triple digit spike in demand. Ah cool, that means in 2-3 months supply will be back in full swing. Doing simple math here...
April 20
May 20
June 20
July 20
80k units of production lost, but were sitting on xxx units here (likely 3 months of supply) it was nuts... which explains the near 0 inventory now.
Seems like it takes about 2 months ex factory or so for the units to come to cali. So I am expecting COCKTOBER to be in full nuts swinging...
Btw same thing going on with Tacomas... holy fkballs, they have people paying above Sticker for used units on forums.

California is the largest vehicle market in the country...so it's going to be felt the hardest there, especially with vehicles in high demand like midsize trucks. I can't imagine paying over sticker for anything, let alone a used vehicle. How do you need a vehicle THAT BAD that it's worth paying so much for it? Just wait FFS.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:25 pmAh cool, that means in 2-3 months supply will be back in full swing. Doing simple math here...

It's because this is just such an odd recession. Haves and have nots are in a totally different boat, people working in finance and other corporate mostly kept their incomes and are now stuck at home with far fewer opportunities to on vacations, dining out, breweries and other COuple that with the fact that everyone feels trapped, and it makes the desire for owning things that make you feel adventurous and allude to getting off the beaten path very strong.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:14 pmOnce inventory builds up again, I think the s will return. This is the exact path went down, and I had wanted a Wrangler for years, so we bought one. She would have NEVER been on board with a $40K car if we could've spent that money on travel and whatnot, so it was the perfect storm to buy a , and I think there are tons of other lucky wealthy people doing the same. At least it helps out some poverty-spec factory workers in Toledo I guess.
Ford kind of fucked up not getting the Bronco to market for this "pandemic". I think the same conditions are what ignited the massive deposits made on BroncBro... the question is, will shit still be like this when they're for sale? I think many people would choose to actually do shit instead of blowing $50K on a car that makes them feel like they do shit when they don't, if the opportunity is there. Plus, who knows if job loss and such will be much worse a year from now.
I don't get the sense that the COVID is going away anytime soon.

2021 change to boost 2.0t volume and make the 3.6 "cleaner". The 3.6 is bad for emissions compliance according to the .gov. Whether real or not, it doesn't matter.
I actually like the eTorque 3.6 more than the standard 3.6. Nice torque boost down low where the 3.6 needs it most.

Our friend located a few 2doors for Sue’s parents. Maybe when we’re not in a hurricane we’ll go check them out. This is to replace their KIA SUV that they never should have bought in the first place.
And since they have neighbors coming over all the time saying how sweet the Willys is, they want something cool too.

I actually read some articles that said the same thing regarding adventure type vehicles. RV sales are insane right now too, and it's impossible to find a campsite anywhere here if you didn't have a reservation 6 months ago.
The Bronco will be interesting. I take all the pre-order stuff with a grain of salt because right now it makes sense to people, but with markups and impending of the economy eventually, that's going to hamper actual sales quite a bit. The real question is, how long will this last? As long as people keep going on vehicles, my job is safe. Same with a ton of the economy.

As you're fully aware, I am not here for it. I have waited for an off roader for 2 years... I don't mind waiting a bit longer. i am still toying with a few other crazy ideas like a Model X, which would be a completely different use case.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:28 pmCalifornia is the largest vehicle market in the country...so it's going to be felt the hardest there, especially with vehicles in high demand like midsize trucks. Yes...it uses a generator in place of the alternator on the accessory drive. The belt then starts the engine for ESS and gives a boost of torque below 1800 rpm from a stop. There's a small battery pack for the system in the rear, and it charges using brake regen and excess engine charging.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:31 pmIs that a hybrid?Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:30 pm

This honestly doesn't sound bad at all... The 3.6 needs all the help it can get under 2500rpms.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:35 pmYes...it uses a generator in place of the alternator on the accessory drive. The only thing I can think of it now is an epic time to go on adventures, and a vehicle is rather critical for that. I've driven it a number of time for testing, and it's a fantastic powertrain and it should have launched that way. The last thing the 2.0T needs is more torque down low.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:37 pmThis honestly doesn't sound bad at all... I am looking for an off roader and a long range cruiser ... The Model X fills the long term cruiser box really nicely. "up to" 350miles now... which is nearly 50% more than mini. Also has the epic Tesla supercharger network. For fucks sake they HAD CHARGERS IN DEATH VALLEY. And no I am likely not taking it off road with 20-22" wheels/tires. Hence wanting the taco... I need a utility vehicle in the stable, which I currently don't have at all.
I will be borrowing that old POS taco for the next few weeks and I'll be doing some work on it as "thanks" like changing all 3 belts/plugs and rear shocks which are original at 250k miles

New house has the perfect solar roof location, and it's 12k to install 8KW of roof and 2 power walls which seems dirt fking cheap... but obviously power is still so CHEAP that it wouldn't pay for itself but just to have a car and house charged fully by yourself... and have a 7 day battery backup.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 12:39 pmOhhh, the Tesla is an off-grid play. I think it's a weird choice for long distance trips... super chargers or not, range anxiety is definitely a thing based on owners I've talked to. Teslas are indeed amazing in many ways, but I just don't like them. It's an opinion thing, but I think I am one of few here to have actually driven a fast Tesla (P90D)... yes, it's ... but it just ain't "it".
I think my iPhone is really nice, it works perfectly, it's designed well, it does all that I ask of it. I don't give a shit about my iPhone. Teslas are this to me.

It really grew on me, and the doors go up, it drives itself, uses no gas, and has a shit ton of space inside. All SUVs are hideous to me with a few exceptions.
This is what I like from an SUV perspective

RR Sport (1st gen)
RR Up to current gen

That's it...
