She moves out pretty well for what it is. I don't expect a ton of power, but rather am just curious to see how the motor sits on the graph using all factory components.Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 1:39 pmI doubt it makes a ton of power, but it's probably plenty and stupid reliable. I love that approach personally.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 1:24 pm
I agree. I wouldn't be breaking a motor down to swap in other stock parts. Much more would be gained going with some ported castings for not much more money.
I still want to get my dad's Impala on the dyno, since I did build that with OE parts. I'm legitimately curious what the power curve looks like:
5.3 with flattop pistons
LS6 intake
862 heads
LS2 cam and springs
LS7 lifters
LS7 Z/28 tri-y manifolds

Geoff should let me borrow the Bolt for a couple weeks. The salt damage will total it and he can finally get out of that lease.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 3:42 pmWell, it had about 6 weeks before it was completely rotted by the road salt that people in this area know nothing about.

Oh, I'm sure it moves great. Would love to see a graph on it for sure. Rare to see a build using all factory parts like that.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 2:51 pmShe moves out pretty well for what it is. It's what he seemed to want, so I guess good for him?

Yeah, the only thing that isn't factory in the motor are the pushrods. For whatever reason, when I measured for pushrod length, the preload was too much with the factory ones. I believe the length came out to 7.350", and I had some 3/8" Trends in that size laying around.Detroit wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 4:24 pmOh, I'm sure it moves great. 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE. It’s a Prius with a Corolla body. I took all the Corolla and Hybrid badging off the car because it shouted “Hybrid” everywhere.
I am seriously impressed with this car as a... car. It’s quiet, smooth, comfortable seats, great visibility, keeps up perfectly fine with traffic, not cheap feeling, has a ton of equipment, and gets insane MPGs.
I drove it home last night aggressively on my 34 mile commute and got 50.8 mpg. 32 miles of that was interstate at 78mph on cruise control. Today I ran some errands and hit PT and a doctors appt, and got 56.6 mpg on a 25 mile stretch of my day. It doesn’t matter how I drive this, I can’t seem to get less than 48 mpg out of it. It’s impressive.
It’s a shame it’s only available in one trim level. If there was an SE or XLE trim, we would sell these things like fucking hot cakes, but they obviously don’t want to cannibalize Prius sales. That said, $24,500 MSRP for a car with radar cruise control, road sign recognition, pre collision/crash avoidance/pedestrian detection, lane keep assist/steering assist, blind spot monitors/rear cross traffic & pedestrian warning (the only option package available for $500), auto climate control, Apple CarPlay...
Cruising at 75mph is nuts. It rivals the GTI for highway feel... I’ll obviously miss the point and shoot of the GTI, but this thing will do the job nicely.
Time for some tint and some bronze RPF1s.

Yea good time to buy a hybrid right now. They are giving away Ford Fusion hybrids here for $179 a month and 0 down or 21k. Comes with all that safety tech as well, adaptive, pre collision, blind spot etc.

Reminds me of the Tahoe hybrid that GM did a while back where they actually posted a service bulletin to pull off the excessive "Hybrid" badging.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 3:46 pm

Yeah, it is all fine and good when it's platform sharing, drivetrain sharing, etc. but when it is the exact same car with different badging and some fake wood...
