An E36 is no more "fun" other than being "rare" now. Also countless "Old car shit" on that car taking away from the fun... My E36 from a decade ago had these age related failures
1. PS hoses leaking
Normal
2. Engine oil pan leaking
Definitely Normal
3. shot bushings all over the suspension
Normal
4. Busted leadliner
5. Door panels that delaminated
6. broken door handle because they are brittle plastic
7. tons of brittle plastic all over
8. Busted speakers, (they dry rotted out)
9. Busted driveshaft rubber bushings (weird term for it i can't remember)
Guibo
10. Worn leather on arm rests (they all wear out)
The interior of these was the first gen to be made with low VOC glues and materials, and they have not held up well.
And this is a 1992 model in... 2009 I can't imagine another 11 years on top of that.
The cosmetic interior can also be done with dyes, glues and replacement broken bits.
Unfortunately, you'll have to live with a few eye sores because the parts are NLA.
This is YMMV, I know you're not a big DIY guy, so factor in shop fees and it gets expensive quick.

Since I've known you, you have always been opposed to modifying cars, and I don't recall you turning wrenches outside of a few minor repairs here and there.
Obviously you had this E36 pre-mk6 days.

Depends on what you consider non diy ?
on the mk6
I changed the DSG fluid on the mk6, did my own oil changes and changed the front and rear lights and converted it from a non nav to a nav. The car was purchased new, not like there is much to do there.
I’m just anti most mod because most mods fuck the car unless they are really thought out ... which 9/10 aren’t
And you know I’m also limping a 410k mile crown Vic along and I just posted about doing shocks on the

I remember you mentioning some repairs on a Jeep (?) something the Merc/Mopar 4.7L
Back when I briefly had BIG GREEN
Man, it's been so long I can't remember color/spec of most of the Mk6's people had.

While they look cool, for the money and the power, granted it is a 25 year old car, it's technically a no for me. Even though the Euro spec is almost at 300 hp, back then it was pretty stellar.

Sorry
I really liked that car as a cruiser/highway slayer and it is very easy on the eyes, but I was pretty open about never loving the dynamics from day 1. That thing is epic for someone who logs a lot of miles, if I was a regional sales rep or something I'd totally have kept it, but when the only driving I really have to do is once a week to the grocery store and the rest is just driving to drive, it didn't really fit into my life.
I am getting the itch pretty hard right now for one.
Haven't done any wrenching since my C5 refresh project really, and kind of miss it a bit. Wrenching on bikes now a little though, which is
I really want a Civic project car for some reason.

Totally doable in 15 years...to me the big question is, where will the electricity come from?
