I’ve never minded the :manuel: in traffic. I’ve sat in it pretty routinely in LA and SD in heavy traffic and it was never an issue or something I regretted.

So I got 39.2 mpg hand calculated, over 300 miles. Which is better than my golf would have done. And this thing is slightly bigger and a whole lot slower. So guess it makes sense.

He's too cool to be tired of anything. He just left without a word.

So I drove a :manuel:
2017 trd off road
Options?
Blind spot, wireless charging, moon roof

How was it ?
Surprisingly good.

Common complaints:
Not enough headroom-
I was close to the roof but it wasn’t bad, and the new ones should be even better due to lower seat + no moonroof.

Bad brakes-
Def not an issue, front dove a bit, but overall better than JK and JL. But perhaps not as good as an FJ but close.

What did I like ?
Driving position is excellent
Room is pretty decent front and back, not cavernous but decent.
Ride was excellent, absorbed everything super well. And didn’t have a “Jeep” shimmy through the cabin after larger bumps.
Interior was quiet, very quiet almost no tire/road noise
Steering was very decent and not vague especially for an suv/truk

What didn’t I like ?
Seat bottoms seem a little short
The shifter sort of shakes a bit when you go over uneven pavement, the shifter is fugly too.
The bed seems rather short/small (5’)er

Didn’t have that much power, but it was ok for what it was. I can’t say this was a pos slow ass garbage :truk:

I can certainly see why people love these. Great utility vehicle.

I have nearly nothing to complain about ... nothing major...

Yep, they're good vehicles. I do want one. Have for a while. I don't know why everyone hates the driving position of these, it's really just like sitting in a sedan or small car.

Far easier for tall guys to get in and out, and you don’t feel dwarfed by the rest of the assholes on the road. :manuel: keeps you engaged.

:notsure: who anyone is ... I know AMR Detroit hates the headroom but it was no worse in the JL Which wasn’t that great in terms of that

I find them really cramped feeling inside.... I also have a really long torso, I am 6'2" with only a 32" inseam. So it could be the headroom issue as my torso is probably as long as Chris's despite not being as tall. My head touches the ceiling in :tits: Fusion which is really my only complaint with that car but I can't quite ever get comfy in there, which is asinine considering I owned an NA Miata.

I’m seriously considering it... but kind of hovering due to corona panic.

Also it seems like the taco won’t have led headlights in the spec I want. but it has led fog lights. Also I think crawl control is for automatic only which is also :disappoint:

I have 100% no use for it or need. I don’t tow, I don’t need the bed 99.9% and I would much prefer an suv, but frankly this makes more sense with decent resale, up front pricing in case I change my mind which I’m sure I will. I also prefer the styling of the taco to the base 4runners and it is about 10k cheaper.

So :doit: and light almost 40k in cash on fire or invest it in the market and take that gamble ...

LWB frontier was a barge for turning. Taco was a lot more maneuverable.

Taco superiority vs JL:
Better :manuel: gearing
Better Ride
Quieter
Better Steering
Better brakes
Cheaper
Better off road up until rubi trim

JL Superiority vs Taco:
Better interior in the higher(est) trim levels but that means 50k+
Rubicon front locker not even available in taco.
More aftermarket support (but taco has insane support also)

The engines are a wash to me, frankly I prefer the 3.5 because it has a little bit more power down low than the 3.6 FCA. Auto trans probably goes to the JL I haven't driven an auto taco, but the auto FJs were just fine, even with the lacking gears.

I mean these are not performance vehicles, there is NO FUN in winding these out, so :whocares: about performance 0-60 etc. The fun comes from :aintcare: 'ing over shit, and taking it places regular cars can't go... and not having shit break.

Frankly the only JL two JL's I would take over the taco are the Rubicons = 50K+ or Willys @ 44k MSRP... the taco at 37k msrp. But I don't see the point unless you wanna go roofless I guess.

I don't think you really need a front locker to drive over national park service roads. NPS just uses F150s.

ATRAC and the rear locker should pull you out of anything you’d be ballsy enough to try on your own.
