Actually. Everyone bought a GTI that did a factory stated 0-60 time in 8.4 seconds. The GTI single handidly saved the US motorist.

I voted 9, but I think 10 or more is pretty much considered to be dangerously slow. After driving that Mitsu Mirage, I don't even know how to rate how gutless the car really is.

I kinda find it funny how the wife won't drive it listed as the reason. But from the dead forum as well as the golfmk7, some guys go for these cars with the DSG partly because the wife can drive it. Also 8.4 was pretty good back then, my 2004 TSX was 8.5 when I clocked it and I thought it was fairly quick.... until I drove the

Funny how dangerously slow is only being thrown around in the US, where a base Fiesta has 100hp while Commie Yuropeans will chug along fine with 60hp shitboxes.
Is everyone really in mode on their way to work? I could easily do with half my power for my commute that’s 90% Hwy.

Real scenario in the blessed lands. You’re on the on-ramp. And Muhammad in his taxi cab can’t merge for shit. So he stops at the end of the ramp. You’re behind him. So you have to flat out 0-60 to get up to traffic speed that’s moving at 70 because it’s a left lane merge.Big Brain Bradley wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 12:14 pmwap wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 11:56 am I voted greater than 10 seconds these days. It's all relative though, isn't it? 36 years ago when the M1 came out in Murica the car mags were all about a sub-10 second 0-60. (C&D clocked it at 9.7). But when supercars were doing it in the 7's, sub-10 was respectable.
Nowadays, as said above, most things should be around sub-7 to be at least somewhat interesting,
I voted 11+ because in the real world you never need the zero part.
Even shitty on ramps, pull half a g ffs and rev it out and you will merge at highway speed
This happens very often here.

So if the taxi acceleration is OK then any random car is also OK...Johnny_P wrote:Real scenario in the blessed lands. You’re on the on-ramp. And Muhammad in his taxi cab can’t merge for shit. Fiesta is 6.5 sec to 60. It’s plenty.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 11:11 am Anything 9 or over.
Honestly, everything should be able to be in the 6's these days.... maybe the 7's.... but I wouldn't buy them, I merge too much.
Anything over 10 takes some planning and foresight as a driver.

The Grom is 0-maybe and it takes 12 seconds to get there (reportedly). My 1990 GMC Sonoma with the 2.5L ironduke was probably every bit of 12-15 seconds.
Both of those are manageable if you use your brain. But anything quicker is fine. Most derps around here merge at 45mph while the traffic is moving between 70-80
