Canyon is shuddering.

Going to call the :dillerman: Monday to schedule a time to bring it in, but this could possibly lead to a new :truk: purchase.

I knew this was a possibility, so it's time to further develop "Plan B"

So, with that being said, I absolutely will not increase my note, in fact this could be a good time to lower it, or leave it the same. So, I need some help.

The loan is unsecured, so I have the title, which makes it a little easier. But I'll probably need to pay off the lightstream loan first. Can you take a payout and finance a new vehicle at the same time?
I.e. take a check for my truk and finance the full price of another one?

Numbers
Truk is worth about $23,000 by KBB
I owe $18,200.
Plac profit: $4,800

Could slide into something for about $25,000-$27,000 and keep my payment about the same. ~$500/mo.

So far, two contenders pop up, I've found a few within my price range, less for the :doge:

2006/7 Dodge Ram 2500 :manuel:
BroForks :manuel:

Needs to tow 7,000lbs
4wd isn't a must-have
~100k miles max

Leasing isn't off the table, basic bitch V8 Silverabro or F un fiddy.

Finally, keep in mind this is all a back-up plan, first course of action is to press the :dillerman: for warranty repairs. But, from what I've read on the interwebs GM doesn't really have a solution, and they're trying to bide their time.

If I hear this is an issue with the 6 speed in the diesel, I'm considering something else. Alan mentioned the other guys here had the issue but its not as widespread.

Just get a Ram classic?

I think I'd opt for a Ram over the Ferd or Chebby.
Can probably get a hemi Ram classic for that with discounts easily.

6-speed auto doesn’t seem to suffer the same fate.

That being said, we do have friends who have had bad luck with the Babymax setup.

Overall it would be cheaper for me to get a Reman transmission in my Silverado, and possibly even rebuild the motor... Or just buy a 2500 specifically for towing and spend somewhere in around $10K, but I want a truck that's capable of towing and getting good gas mileage so I can replace the Silverado's 12mpg city/19mpg hwy. I don't want the notes, but I wouldn't mind a better package.

Mine just crested 18k miles this weekend, zero issues.

Goes back in 3 weeks, so I'm pretty :aintcare: about it at this point.

Also, a Ram is an excellent choice. Labor day should present some very appealing lease :dill: s.

I've been looking they have lease deals ~$350/mo.

I'm going to call the :dillerman: this morning to schedule a time to bring it in, so I'll miss the Labor Day :dill: s

Curious what the :dillerman: says. It's looking like this 8-speed trans could end up being a big issue for GM.

Right, which is why I want to get it documented now that I brought it in, even if they say nothing it's on the books.
If I can keep the truck there may be a CAL, or recall or something that could work in my favor.

Financially the best option is to keep the truck, I make no illusions, but it's got to be reliable.

I thought about this on my way to work this morning because I saw a Silverado 2500 at a stop light. I remembered a friend of mine has a 2500 and he says it rides like ass unless he's hauling or towing something behind it. It was his daily and he put up with it, but said he'd rather drive around with 400 pounds of bagged concrete in the bed than nothing if he could. This was a mid 2000's 2500 Silverado. I'm sure the newer trucks are better, but likely not worlds better.
Just something to think about for a daily.

I don't think this issue hinders reliability, it's just annoying. My buddy's truck that shudders horribly has been doing it for 1 year and over 10k miles and has been fine. He's :aintcare: about it because it's a lease...so if it was going to cause a failure of some sort, it would be on his truck.

Its definitely the avenue to take if it gets to that point.

Mine wasn't bought back because GM and the lawyers deemed my issue wasn't "safety" related so a buyback wasn't going to happen, but I'd sat a constant trans issue goes a little deeper than an electronic coding problem.

I'd get a lawyer for that, should I go that route.
The Louisiana “lemon law” provides remedies to those consumers who purchased a defective new vehicle, personal watercraft, all-terrain vehicle or motor home. Under the “lemon law,” if your vehicle is out of service by reason for repair fora cumulative total of ninety or more calendar days or if the same nonconformity or defect has been subject to repair four or more times by the manufacturer or dealer within the warranty term or during a period of one year following the date of the original delivery of the vehicle to you, whichever is the earlier date, then the manufacturer shall:

(1) Replace the motor vehicle with a comparable new motor vehicle, or, at its option,

(2) Accept return of the motor vehicle and refund the full purchase price plus any amounts paid by the consumer at the point of sale, and all collateral costs less a reasonable allowance for use to the consumer.
Under either of the options above, the manufacturer shall be entitled to a reasonable allowance of use directly attributable to the use of the vehicle by you.

I've never even looked into a buy-back, seems like that's a bit far-reaching right now.

Mine has been fine honestly, though it's a 16' with the 6spd auto still. It's a little bit of a dog with some clunky shift points, but it's never left me wondering if it's gonna leave me stranded or anything like that.
