Old white people are the ones who buy this car new. They golf. It’s actually rather important, not being able to fit the golf clubs would be terrible. Joe wouldn’t be able to show off his fancy new Detroit lambo to the other guys escaping their wives and families and pounding down Miller lites while “golfing” in salmon colored polos. He’d have to take his other car which is a Camry and that’s not very metal.
You kids are being stupid.
This is a unit of measure since the C4 advertising, and a really good one.
I don't golf, but anyone that has been around the block knows that the bags are pretty damned big and this gets the point across about the trunk size better than "xx cubic feet" when the area is curved and not a fucking GTI box.
I don't golf either but I need a real trunk, not a miata.

With how low than engine is they could have put an entire shelf in there. I'd bet the valve covers aren't even as high as the tires.
I think that's to accommodate storage of the targa, pretty nice design that it can still fit despite this layout.
Gents, this thing is pretty goddamn epic. Like, I really want one.

Targa + trunk + frunk + NA V8 + cloth seats + short and long gears at a semi-affordable price is
Also it's not 80 bloody inches wide so it might kinda sorta fit in poverty garages and parking spaces.

The targa doesn't seem to hang over the engine at all when they showed the clip. I would bet they didn't do a shelf for 2 reasons:
1. looks cool to see in ala Ferrari and see the engine.
2. Anything over the engine area will be a fire hazard (thinking about all the toasted Ferrari 458's that didn't have a shelf).

Also great: small fixed caliper brakes. The base car can fit probably 17+18s instead of the stupid stock donks. 18+19 for sure - with any luck the offsets will be close enough to fit OEM C6Z/C6GS wheels.
I give GM credit for doing this. Hopefully it ignites a mid-engine showdown between poverty brands and I end up owning one some day.
A used c7 is still like 50k somehow, which is frankly shocking. The entire gen of the car never depreciated. Also, no way that c8 will be “under 60k” or whatever they are saying. It’s a price

What trim level are you looking at? Base C7s are now in the mid-40s new, and I'm seeing low mileage used examples breaking into the 30s.
If anyone near Philly wants to visit a car museum this was just ranked #2 in the world.
I’ve been there for a craft show once before. The old Alfa 8C is super impressive. Apparently Dr Simeone does “demos” of the cars occasionally where they run the engines and maybe drive them around the parking lot. But either way the museum is totally worth checking out.

But this could be east vs. west.
Z51 cars are holding steady in the 40s last I checked even for first models years

I was there for a work function a couple years ago. The Shelby Daytona was on loan at the time, which was a bummer.
I remember a co-worker was pointing out the starting cranks on a lot of the older cars. I told him that if you didn't do it correctly, you ran a great chance of the motor kicking back and the crank causing serious injury. He didn't believe me. Maybe about 10 minutes later, we were talking with one of the employees and he was telling us how they take a few cars out on rotation each week. He then said that one of the new guys had to go home earlier that week due to the motor kicking back and breaking his arm.
