So the 4R. It's a barge and drives like an old SUV. But not like an old Explorer or something, like an old Expedition (sorry Fords are what I have experience with). Brake dive is surprising because most vehicles don't do that anymore. It leans way over in turns, something like a Forester (which I drove right afterwards) feels like a fucking sports car compared to it. The throttle is super lazy but it'll get to 60 in like 8 flat so it's not a total dog I think it's just throttle programming.

If discos fix the barge handling and a throttle programmer would liven up the go pedal for cheap, I wouldn't have much to complain about except brake dive but whatever. I like how solid it feels and how it just floats over road bullshit. I've driven a few and aside from one with wonky brakes, they all drive exactly the same which is saying something... and the one with 80k on it had absolutely nothing rattling or buzzing. Awful stereo would need to be addressed which is annoying but I could do that.

:iono: the prices are ridiculous though. A GC is an objectively far superior vehicle for quite a bit less. A little less "capable" but that wouldn't matter in my specific case.
I wonder how a TuRD Pro 4R drives with the fancy shocks and whatnot?

A GC is probably the better buy. Trailhawks are really capable.
It rolls even more and has less grip from the tires on pavement, so it'll skip the back end around if you take a turn at normal speed. Honestly the JLU handled better. But the JLU I was driving had minivan tires, so :wrong: I bet a Sahara JLU would be nearly identical to a 4R with the discos. JL has more charm though. Charm can also become a headache though.

All I'd want in a GC is low range 4x4, couldn't possibly care enough to narrow the search to a trailhawk. So a limited would be fine, which are plentiful on the used market. And relatively cheap compared to a 4R or JK/JL.

A used GC Limited would be hard to beat.

If this could be had for $17-$18k I might bite, but the residuals on these are :fullretard:.

They do look great. Should've bought one instead of my old 2011 GTI many moons ago.

I too was looking at a blurple WRX hatch before buying my 2012 GTI. Dealers wouldn't let me test drive it, so I :nope: out.

Weren't those $25-28k ish? They were more expensive than a GTI for sure.
The 5 speed sucks. It's super crunchy.

I just don't see the draw at those price points. New WRX's can be had for 27/28k if you don't want leather. :wtf: is the point of this car, hatch be damned.

MSRP was 25,995, I am assuming you can get 2k off that ancient thing even in 2014, it was already on an engine that was 10 years old at that point. 21,400 for something that ancient now is just :ludacris:

When I was shopping in 2012, there was ~$2k on the hood since these were aging in their lifecycle. IIRC, the deals I were working was ~$25k OTD.

I don't understand why these aren't more popular. That 2.0T was a fantastic engine, and these were really a riot to drive.
