I’ve heard the R53 is more reliable but the interior and associated rattles are worse.[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:31 amLess, I think.Swedish Chef wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:22 am
I’ve never driven one.
How many more squeaks and rattle per gallon do they get over the R56?
More creaks, though.
My sunroof creaks when I open the rear sunshade.
The Clio rattled less than my MiniCaleDeRoo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:34 amYour ClioSwedish Chef wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:22 am

They are very similar though.
Seating was shit in the Clio but engine was more fun than a stock N18.

Exactly one year ago we actually had several inches on the ground here... I remember my 328i being brand new to me and struggling to get anywhere in it on the summer run flats in the snow.

I’ve been told Winston and Greensboro got hit pretty bad last year with a good foot of snow and 2-3 consecutive snow days.
If there’s one thing I don’t miss with Sweden it’s the climate...and I’m flying back for Christmas and NYE in a week..

The dash and door panels look rough, but I give them credit for not smearing on Armor All or Vaseline to cover that up.Swedish Chef wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 2:08 pm https://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/d/r ... 97585.html

M3s aren’t much cheaper than that and it’s not silver with a beige or black interior.
I don’t expect a mint condition one but I like the color combo and it’d make a good weekend/track day driver with no care for stone chips.
Seriously, E36s are similar money and the US got shafted with the weak engine so why not go E46?

Max bought an E36 M3 and his prom queen turned out to be a bipolar tranny. He can't go back and reconsider.Swedish Chef wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 7:59 pmElaborate?

Idk I guess I don’t have a clue what cars are worth here and use Yurop prices as a reference.

E46. These cars are just not good. Too much shit to break unless you get one with sub 50k miles and never drive it. Tons of shit needs to be fixed/replaced by 100k. By car had 5 figures of “repairs” by 79k miles, and was going to get a few more ... but I d out and never looked back. 370z has similar hp, and is far easier to run and maintain and frankly a far better all around car for the same priceDesertbreh wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 8:46 pmMax bought an E36 M3 and his prom queen turned out to be a bipolar tranny. I think the E46 M3 is a super car but it seems like it requires a lot of work to make it reliable for track duty. I’d stick with the 30/36 BMWs for that probably.
That blue one does seem like a decent deal, great color combo but SMG cars are worth a lot less.

Big reason why I recently fell in love with the ND2 MX-5.
Fun still has a place in my heart.

A 2019 3-door FiST with Recarbros would be awesome. Nope, EcoSport it is.

Rear subframe reinforcement
Rear subframe bushings requiring subframe removals
New shocks all around as bmw shocks wear out in 50-70k miles
Vanos Kit from dr vanos
VC gasket change
Fucked ignition coils throwing CE lights
Valve adjustments every 30k miles $900 each time
Fucked rear view mirror (fluid leaks out) and it turns colors
Front wheel bearing m3 has m tax and costs 2x what a regular 3 series bearing costs
Fucked rear speakers/tray require “tennis ball mod” where you jam a tennis ball in the rear tray to avoid rattles
Have you heard of bmw oil spec on the m cars ? 7 quarts of 10w60 $17 a quart oil per oil change
First gear doesn’t work sub 50F in the mornings ... “they all do that” bs it takes time and a lot of force to jam it in. Also may result in a 1/2 “crunch”. Bmw couldn’t develop this trans right.
I’m sure I’m missing something.... I don’t miss that car one bit
I’d love to discuss this car I am willing to argue this one to the end of time.
I hate the S54 motor it is a giant pile of shit. Sounds like shit in us spec, no real power, no torque, no reliability, epic maintenance. So many better options out there other than collector ability in which case it makes sense. But then you gotta get one with 50k miles or less

Not really. The car had 80k miles and all those repairs... a Japanese vehicle would have had maybe 1 issue.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 9:34 amMost of this is just old cars require things. But some unicorn tax added in.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 1:33 am
