I imagine you plan on doing some spirited driving on windy roads, including sporadic jolts of acceleration. Personally, I don't like feeling as though I could get out and run faster than the vehicle I'm driving.

Another thing I hated about them was those automatic seatbelts like the Ford Escort had.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 11:42 amYea, they seem but down on power. For a turbro 2.6L, seems like there's a lot of opportunity for improvement, but they're so rare that nobody bothered with that.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 10:11 am
They drove okay.
I almost bought the Mitsubishi version, the Starion in 1988, but in the end the 5.0 mustang GT beat it out.
Not long ago I posted a picture of one that showed up at my work that looked pretty minty/restored. I always liked them, but they were lacking power.
Would be a unique thing that I could still park in close garages at work
Personally, I don't think I'd bother with one of these today and would find a newer cheap car.

I prefer turning and braking to drag racing.Huckleberry wrote:Then why aren't you buying a Prius?troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 1:08 pm What series do you race in? I just drive around the speed limit like a pleb.

Bring your "outperforming" car out to autox and prove it? With any luck I'll be running 6-10 events next year.

It's really similar in many respects to an E30 M3. Such a slow worthless POS. Why would anyone drive one?Melon wrote:BRZ is more in line with the ND Miata, and even the E30.
Have you driven a BRZ? Those cars, while great in their own ways, are turds in twisties in comparison.
The throttle, shifter, steering, lack of rev hang, balance, mechanical feel of the 86ers is epic and nothing else new that's not a lot of dollars compares, that I have driven (and yes, I've driven Mustangs and Camaros and own a modern BMW).

Who said anything about drag racing? Also, I like how you've gone from driving the speed limit to autocrossing.troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 1:49 pmI prefer turning and braking to drag racing.Huckleberry wrote:

Aside from the turbo 4 Camaro, I've driven all of them.D Griff wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 2:23 pmHave you driven a BRZ? Those cars, while great in their own ways, are turds in twisties in comparison.

Dollar for dollar, I'm never picking a BRZ/FR-S at that price point.

It's only a few days a year but it happens and power is irrelevant. I never ever need high horsepower. All it can do is generate speeding tickets.Huckleberry wrote:Who said anything about drag racing? modern efi, head studs and big turbos solve that issue now.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 10:11 amThey drove okay.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:29 am https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1989- ... 2019-10-15
I always forgot these existed. Super
I wonder how they drive?

But with all the modern conveniences. I always thought they were a bit slow, but the chassis dynamics are great.troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 1:57 pmIt's really similar in many respects to an E30 M3. Such a slow worthless POS. Don't test drive one, you'll want to buy it... and you don't want to like cars anymore.

True
Yet
I am surrounded by Accords and Outbacks. City people here love their Outbacks. Hmm.
I bet this wouldn't fit down my street because of how wide it is.
That hatch doe. AWD one is basically a better looking Outback that rides a little lower.

I thought even the 4 cylinder AWD one drove great and they are under $30k new.

Did not realize you drove juan. Did you test the 4 and the 6? Thoughts?troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 7:11 pm I thought even the 4 cylinder AWD one drove great and they are under $30k new.
FWIW I really do respect your opinion on cars. I think we have similar priorities in our fun vehicles.

I only drove the 4 cylinder AWD since the 6 is out of budget. Seating position is perfect, engine note in the cabin is decent, handling is good, acceleration is enough IMO given the short gearing. I almost wanted to buy one but it's just plain too big for me. Even the base trim is nicely equipped.
