Old cars will tank in value when boomers really start dying off. Will be 5/7, and my garage is almost ready.

Turbros were really cool. IIRC, they were somewhat parts bin WRX/STI mashups. WRX powertrain with STI steering rack and suspension bits. I've always wanted a Saabaru.troyguitar wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 5:30 pm I do find myself strangely drawn to the Saabaru, too bad it's not a turbro. Looks really nice for a 2006

The values of these things make zero sense IMO.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 1:09 am https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/ctd/d/ ... 59461.html

Personally, I see no reason not to just go get one of these. Nothing else like it, and nothing will be ever again, they are cheap-ish, seem to be fairly reliable, don't depreciate rapidly for non-catastrophic , fuel efficient...

The main issue is that there are other options that outperform it at that price point.

I mean, you've got Corvettes which definitely blow it out of the water but you're talking a 7-10 year older car with way higher consumables costs... or the Z which isn't nearly as nice to drive IMO. THe only thing that really compares is the Miata, which can't go on track, can't hold any shit, can barely fit DFD linebacker crew, etc.

I almost bought the Mitsubishi version, the Starion in 1988, but in the end the 5.0 mustang GT beat it out.
Not long ago I posted a picture of one that showed up at my work that looked pretty minty/restored. I always liked them, but they were lacking power.

All are in that same price range on the used market and are 2015 or newer.

Yea, they seem but down on power. For a turbro 2.6L, seems like there's a lot of opportunity for improvement, but they're so rare that nobody bothered with that.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 10:11 amThey drove okay.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:29 am https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1989- ... 2019-10-15

Would be a unique thing that I could still park in close garages at work
