Dem farts are fantastic.

I've never seen a Supra around here. C8's all the time
For some reason, there's a group of people with new BMW M products that must straight pipe the things. They pop and bang, and not in a good way. Michele always asks if the cars are broken because we can hear them at our house, which is about a quarter mile from the road they "race" on. Really annoying.

Straight pipes seem to be a fad sweeping through certain car groups now. Dude's keep posting videos with their GTIs sporting straight pipes and they all sound like a flaming pile of garbage.Detroit wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 3:31 pm I've never seen a Supra around here. C8's all the time

Older cars could pull off straight pipes. My 951 was silly and I loved it.
New cars, it just doesn't work UNLESS it was tuned to like an Abarth or something.

I have a straight pipe on my Mini.... Works great... but as you mentioned factory tune requires it. And this is also why my midget chariot is getting worse MPG than a giant 3 series with the same motor.
I have yet to see a C8, don't really see Supras though either, maybe 3 total in the wild. 911s, C7s, etc. are all a dime a dozen hereDetroit wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 3:31 pm I've never seen a Supra around here. C8's all the time

Turbo motors sound like so the farts, cracks, and pops are the only interesting noises IMO. Well, those and the whooshes.

I ran my LS1 Camaro SS (heads, cam, intake) with Grotyohann headers, no cats and the SLP Loudmouth mufflerless setup.. It was mean.
On the C5 I went catless for a bit with LG headers and the Z06 titanium exhaust, then put the cats on to kill the smell. Sounded tame through the Z06 exhaust, but I liked it.

Yep, my C5 had long tubes and Z06 Ti exhaust. Sounded great, but rather restrained.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 4:45 pmI ran my LS1 Camaro SS (heads, cam, intake) with Grotyohann headers, no cats and the SLP Loudmouth mufflerless setup.. It was mean.

My C6 had somewhere in that power range and it could scare me occasionally. I wouldn't really care for more in a package that size.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 9:44 am 2021 reviews are coming out now.

I always forget how small it is. Nearly 400hp in a car with a 97" wheelbase could get sketchy. Still love it though.Tarspin wrote:My C6 had somewhere in that power range and it could scare me occasionally. I categorize it as a car I like but don't want to own unless I had more disposable income to pick it up new or lease it or something. BMW complexity is kind of a turn off for me.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 10:00 amI always forget how small it is. Nearly 400hp in a car with a 97" wheelbase could get sketchy. Without driving either I'd rather have the B series engine than the S. I think the Zupra looks awesome but the M2 is a much more practical car, and doesn't have the horrendous wind buffeting issue.

Same-ish wheelbase and power as a 911 S.Gberg2119 wrote:I always forget how small it is. Nearly 400hp in a car with a 97" wheelbase could get sketchy. They're dropping a 2.0 in it for a base model too. 255HP and 295 lb-ft.
Man, check out the start up in this video, it sounds exactly like my 328i (same motor).Wocka Wocka wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 1:56 pm They're dropping a 2.0 in it for a base model too. 255HP and 295 lb-ft.
