I can't be bothered to bend at the waist to get my crotchfruit into my ultra low Mazda6 hypercar. So I'm trading in this perfectly good car and buying something that more closely matches my manly persona. Budget is 36k. New is fine but prefer used. Under 30k miles

Choices are as of now and are fluid and in no particular order.

1. ZR2: pro: satisfies my deep need to fit in. Con: can't fuck in the short bed.

2. Tacoma: pro: Those short bastards know how to make something that lasts. Con: built for midgets.

3. 2019 RAV4: pro: see above. Con: unproven and unreleased.

4: Grand Cherokee: pro: made in America. Con: made in America.

5. Wrangler: pro: capable: con: not as comfortable a DD.

6. GMC canyon: pro: can fuck in bed. Con. Should I just get the big one?

7. Silverado: pro: big. Con: big.

I like the 4runner too but need to drive one.

Right now I'm thinking it's going to be a ZR2 with a camper.

Whats the budget? There is a 20k spread between the choices.

No need to go any further. Also, drop the tailgate and you've got all the fuck room you could want.

ZR2 @1 year old and call it a day. New ones are 10k off the budget, all other things on the list you seem to like less, so why bother?

Are you insane? Old XJs are a huge pile unless you're capable and willing to work on them. Also likely much less interior space than your mazderp.

Can't argue. Just making sure I'm thinking this through.

Is there any more truckish small SUV/crossovers I'm missing taking a look at?

Space wouldn't be an issue. I was under the impression that these were reliable, no?

Yeah. I should drive one of those. Didn't Waxer have one? Did he like it?

Small and Truckish are an Oxymoron in todays world.
You can go TrailCOCK as mentioned above, other than that that's it.

If you wanted to go dumpster diving,
2nd gen exploders (same shit as a ranger)
Trailblazers (same shit as colorado first gen)
4 Runners (same as tacos)
I think that about caps off the list. Most of it is too old for a DD.
New 4 runner is a shitty proposition, and their used values are drugs, a used 4 runner costs more than a new TrailCOCK Cherokee.
Out here 38-44k MSRP trailcocks have around 10-15k sitting on the hood. To me, that is the best bet when keeping forever.

He had electrical issues, and :nuke: 'ed into the JK. The facelifted ones are quite great IMO. I think they are the perfect size for an SUV (around same as last gen JGC). Everything else is too big/heavy etc.
3.2 V6 or the 2.Turbro should be decent motors in the Redskin mobile.

FWIW I don't mind the JKU as a daily, and from what :waxer: has said, the JL is even more comfortable if that's in your budget.

The cheapest DD'able JLU is going to be around 40-5k +tax ... seems to be slightly out of budget and that will be a total poverty spec.
A trailhawk will have leather/heated seats/stereo, better lights and far better mpg for 5-10k less.

Ah, I haven't looked at pricing on the JL much. I knew it crept up, but thought I'd seen you guys posting some decent :dill: here are there and figured he could get a Sport in the 35k range.

I drove a 2018 Cherokee with most of the option boxes checked as a rental earlier this year. Was seriously :notbad: Would consider one if I were in the market for that type of vehicle.

Sport with nothing but power locks if he can get 5k off sticker is around 35k. A Cherokee in the same spec is 25k

Is there any chance at all we can stop comparing the Cherokee and the JKU? Any chance? One is suitable only for secretaries who want to "sit up high" and need 4WD for the four times a year it "really snows hard." This same vehicle depreciates at Mach 3.3 straight to the center of the earth. The other is an iconic off road vehicle which has the lowest depreciation of anything that is not a Ford GT or high end 911.

Then there is the not small matter of the former causing you to engage in seppuku, whilst the latter does not. A major estate planning issue you've got to toss in the mix.
