I don't see how a rav4 that's got a 275 hp V6 at 3600 lbs or whatever is so miserable or embarrassing compared to a rusty old 4Runner. Obviously I don't get it :doe: because hiking is what poor peasants do to get to the fucking market, not a god damn hobby.
Great vehicle but Max needs something more burly apparently.

This is what I was saying with the Tahoe thing...these are far more affordable and just as capable and easy to work on. But how does this not have the stigma that the Tahoe does? If you really wanted a cheap offroader, you can't beat something like this.
This is GMT900. Perhaps this takes us out of Guadalupeville.
:notsure: if that makes a difference. Old Chebby is old Chebby, breh.

There a lot of GMT900 Tahoes, particularly in LTZ trim levels, that still look pretty country club and are still priced way out of the hands of Abuelita.
Not so with the GMT800. Max barely sneaks by here as this is the first year of the GMT900

Well, 900 lasted until 2015, so it makes sense I guess. An early 900 like this might be the ticket then.

I still really like 400 and 800's. I'd be rocking one of those ZFG.

You can always just hold off for the 2.3T+10AT Bronco, how much longer is the poon lease?

Why does buying a JL make no sense? Just take care of it and off it after you get bored? NFG on miles. :iono: that makes more sense than having a second car you need to insure and light tax money on fire for and repair because old and whatnot.

Buy one of those, re-sell it in a year or two, maybe you lose $6k? Worst case?

5k in taxes and reg fees, down the drain on the first day.

Then depreciation, I’ll lose my ass on it in the 12-18 months I’ll own it. ~10k+ in that alone

Because even though he can technically afford it making payments on two brand new vehicles for one person put the financially responsible side of Max into a place of unspeakable darkness and self loathing.

SUV = poverty and should be priced as such. $10k or :gtfo:

A little big but you off roaded a suburban last time in death valley IIRC and that's basically the same as this.

This is the way to play the poverty off roader game. You gotta be open to whatever is in halfway decent condition.

No I mean get rid of the M3 and just conquer the Ming Dyansty in one vehicle for the next year or two. What's the actual incremental cost versus having an M3 and a Guadelupehauler? It can't be more than a few grand.

Poverty means 150k+ miles, holes in the seats and faded paint. I think that is unacceptable at 10k.
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ctd/d/ ... 52980.html

Here is a bulletproof 5.0 powered Mercedes with acceptable miles. No it won't be terribly unreliable that powertrain is ok. And it doesn't have much in electronics. I think it is bizzare that a taco is worth double with the same year/criteria.
No turned over portapottys, no black carpets, or torn up seats or faded paint. An excellent stereo, good performance etc.

That said I am not interested in a mall cruiser, hence the "hate" for "cuvs" I am interested in something a bit more durable, that I can cheap myself on the cheap and won't give me too much of a headache.

I need the vehicle to have strong resale in the future however, I know myself, I get bored and I :plac: I don't want some old SUV to cost me 5-10k in depreciation in 12-18 months.

Suburban was too big. I couldn't go to 1/2 the trails I wanted to go on because of the long ass wheelbase and the approach/depart/breakover angles :(

It would be cheaper for me to get a JLU Sport for sure, JLU Rubi would be comparable if I keep it for 12-18 months and cheaper if I keep it for longer than 2 years. This isn't exactly a Money move. I don't think I want to get one vehicle do it all at the moment... the JL has quite a few drawbacks over the EM.

Tahoe, Silverado, etc will be the same. Tahoe less so I guess because shorter wheelbase. :iono: If you have to install a lift kit and tires on it I really have a hard time seeing :butwhy: do that instead of getting a Heep you'd rather be in anyway.

Short wheelbase on the Tahoe should be better, but width will always be an issue. It's why I prefer midsize vehicles for wheeling. Wrangler, Tacoma, 4Runner, Colorado, etc. A Land Cruiser will be too wide too most likely, :doe:

The price is based on the potential for expensive repairs. The engine and transmission will likely be fine, its all the rest of it. Same reason all I could get for the the 2008 CLS550 for $16.5K. Rich people want new ones, poor people can't afford the risk. You can afford the risk. I dunno, that looks like a decent option to me. But you wouldn't be a rugged individualist like all the Jeep and Colorado owners on the forum, and for that reason, you would need to kill yourself.
