I like it.

I'm sure I won't like the associated pricetag, though.

I wonder why VW didn’t give North America the same dual injection EA888 engine like RoW.

I’ve never heard of any issues in Europe so I believe it worked well.

I would have hoped to see if without him throwing all that random garbage into the motor and fuel tank.

Plenty of motors lasting into 100k miles with minimal of any issues. Unless there is some odd golf R issue threats specific to this platform

I'm assuming it's because they're :scrooge: and I think Europe has stricter emissions standards.

Some manufacturers here are finally learning and doing both direct and port injection though. GayPR sells a port injection kit for the R but I don't know how you go about getting that tuned to work right.

It'll be interesting to see what the 2 untouched cylinders look like after some more mileage. It's probably not serious but it's still :disgust:

Honestly a bigger concern is maintaining interest in the vehicle that long. This seems like there is a remedy for it and it doesn’t blow up the motor either

The North American Mk7 R was assembled in Germany so I wouldn’t be surprised if an additional configuration with all associated part numbers, tooling etc. instead of assembling every car on the line with the same engine actually ended up costing VW more.

Then again, emissions may play a part and GTI would still have Mexico assembled DI-only engine so who knows.

Aren’t the engines made in Hungary anyways ?

They are made in Hungary. It's gotta be cost. Despite the Mk7 R still being built in Germany on probably the same assembly line with RoW cars, the bean counters probably figured out it's cheaper to leave port injection off R engines for North America.

That’s partially why I highly dislike that brand. Unoriginal and just tries to copy every successful design.

:notwrong:

They poached the actual design heads in many cases. But the cars are :notbad: and are certainly a great value.

Eh. I would have no issue with knock off Airpods. AirPods are a ridiculous product with 5000% margins :nope:
