Downgrades to gti to save money, and yet throws money on mods. :yeahok: thats more :derp: than anything else
Not a single car decision he has made saved him any money
Car priorities sure are important for his children well being and their education. Especially now that he lives in a nazi state like VA where 80+ lands you in jail. Gee I wonder why I haven’t tuned my GTI after coming from a tooned mk6.

But nooooo, gotta have dat youtube money

Tuning a car is pretty much retarded in my book. And this is based on looking at the countless issues over the last 20 years of dicking with cars. It’s never “free horsepower” that the factory left on the table

Ive been on the modding :koolaid: with my mk6 and honestly, it was a decent experience in my early 20’s. But I don’t see myself going that far again on modding. I still have the itch of tuning it, but I don’t forsee myself dumping 600 bucks just to have higher chances of grenading my engine.

For those getting the diesel emissions fix, expect acceleration issues:

I'd tear out the emissions equipment and get a t00n if I still owned that lump.

Weird. My bro had the fix done to his JSW TDI and though he also noticed a loss in power, he's not noticed any driveability issues.

Agreed on all above, maybe the 3.0 is worse off. Either whore, we got rid of emissions testing in Ontario and if I had one I'd be tuning the shit out of it sans cat and blue piss.

would you take a free 2.0t from a 2010-14 a4? head is separated and they are in varying condition. Sounds like a great starting place if you are doing an engine build.

Interview with VW's North American Honcho:
https://www.automobilemag.com/news/vw-b ... 95A96D03B7
We need to make Volkswagen matter again in America. And I think between some of the strategic choices, where we missed the SUVs, and obviously the TDI fiasco, we’ve made it un-matter to an awful lot of people. My simple mission is to make it matter more profoundly to employees, to the dealers, and to the outside market.

So I've been yapping a bit about OEM LED tail lights that the euro golf Rs get and another stroke of luck came my way. Here's how things unfolded:

1.) I saw a posting for two of the four tail lights on a local vw sight and they were half of the cost of new... however they were never installed because the tip of one of them was chipped off, and when buddy tried to take off a cover plate he broke the clip attached to the cover plate. Dude put in a complaint saying that all the stuff was damaged in shipping and got free replacements.

2.) After hunting around a bit for the remaining lenses I decided to just order the other two pieces at full list price.

3.) Found a local supplier of the harness that piggy backs off of the factory connectors to make the lenses "dynamic blink" and bought it for cheaper then online listings.

4.) The other two lenses showed up and one also had a corner chipped off, i contacted the vendor and told them about the chip, along with pictures, and the clip which when I removed showed signs of clip manglement (it was a stretch but factual).

5.) Vendor wanted to ship me replacements but decided to give me a refund (100% for the chipped light, 30% for the cover plate clip). :fuckyeah:

So all in, I'm $350 for the full set, and if I use the cover plates from my factory lights i have all the parts I need to do the swap. Retail for this crap new is $750USD + tx + shipping and it usually sells for 60-70% of retail used. I should be profiting after I'm done with these :alpo:

I'm kind of :excited: to throw these on the :gorf: now.

Here is the clip with the broken tab (right in the center).. it still functions...

Image

This is the lense with the chip (bottom right in the first pic)..

Image

Very similar to the chip on the first one I bought from local dude...

Piss poor packaging, this shipped from Latvia I think... one extra inch of clearance space for the box and they would have been fine. :fullretard:

Image

This was me taking the clip off of my existing tail lamp to make sure it fits, I have no issue reusing these and it looks like vw sells them for not much money..

Image

The end result will be this, but I guess I'll never see them so who knows..

Vs factory look:

It's going to look great.

I wonder if the LEDs off 7.5's are plug and play on 7's.

The plugs are slightly bigger and blue vs the black ones we have. When i looked at the harness adapter it was easy to see the differences and I'm led to beleive that the MK7.5 lamps are the same as the MK7 LED lamps. So maybe with the right harness adapter it works? I haven't really looked into it but will dig around now that we're on the subject.
