Blue Meanie is also a 2019 and my fob battery died in December, so you're doing ok, lol.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:44 pm The battery in my 2019's key fob went dead yesterday. It only lasted for 1 year and 9 months.

If it didn't work after replacing the battery, I would have. However, it was $8 for two batteries, so I just replaced them. I figured the second fob wasn't going to last much longer.MexicanYarisTK wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:52 pmI heard a few guys whose key fob batteries went out within a year, I'd go to for it, even though they might pull the "it's normal" card for it.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:44 pm The battery in my 2019's key fob went dead yesterday. Yeah, I just went out to move the car so I could drive the GTO and the fob wasn't working at all. Even better is that it did work a couple hours prior.wap wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 4:12 pmBlue Meanie is also a 2019 and my fob battery died in December, so you're doing ok, lol.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 12:44 pm The battery in my 2019's key fob went dead yesterday. At least it did it at home and not while I was at the store.

Similar thing happened to me. Drove it to work in the morning, then to another site mid-morning. Went to leave the other site and it was muerto. So it worked fine twice that morning until it didn't.Huckleberry wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 8:32 pmYeah, I just went out to move the car so I could drive the GTO and the fob wasn't working at all. 315 HP and starts at $44,640. I'm interested to see how the WRX and STi compare.

In real news the Check Brake Pads warning cam on in the T-Reg. it took up the whole screen you'd think the engine seized or something. I never had a car that monitored brake wear electronically.
Anyway.... what's the deal relative to rotors on modern vehicles? Back in the day rotors might last the life of the vehicle if you changed pads promptly and didn't have the rotors turned too often. Now the consensus amongst younger mechanics seems to be that you almost always change the rotors at the same time as pads. Did they really start making OEM rotors so thin that this is the case?

Curious about this as well. I've also heard that modern rotors are too thin to turn. But my Mk4 only needed rear pads in the 11 years I'd owned it without rotors needing turning or replacement, and my Mk6 was still on original pads and rotors for 9.5 years until it was murdered by fucking Stuart last year. Come to think of it, my Scirocco also lived it's entire life on original rotors as well so .Irish wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 2:45 pm In real news the Check Brake Pads warning cam on in the T-Reg. it took up the whole screen you'd think the engine seized or something. Yes, modern rotors typically start at minimum thickness so you can’t have them turned and instead need to replace them.Irish wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 2:45 pm In real news the Check Brake Pads warning cam on in the T-Reg. it took up the whole screen you'd think the engine seized or something. Rotors and pads are always recommended to be replaced at the same time on more modern cars. My 7.5’s rotors were grooved and lipped and pads were super thin. They wear pretty much simultaneously.
