Yeah I kind of think that the 987.1 S dice roll is the way to go, you can get them for not a lot of cash, IMS failure rates are low.

I've driven a 987.1 S before, I think they're pretty awesome especially with an exhaust or intake on them. Lots of fun noises and they handle really well. I recall reading something about oiling issues during track driving? Something to look into if that's the intent of the car.

The 3.2 cylinders chunking scare me more than the IMS bearings. I'm but I want the base car with headers/intake/tune and some camber.D Griff wrote:Yeah I kind of think that the 987.1 S dice roll is the way to go, you can get them for not a lot of cash, IMS failure rates are low.

981 PDK is slightly more than a Miata. Why not?

My problem is I'm just asking too much of any one car. I want to daily it, take it to the track, haul my bicycle, be reliable, all for under $30k.... At the end of the day, the C5/C6 are the only vehicles that really do this, and you just have to live with the compromises of anus shattering, scraping, and parking difficulties.

A Cayman should excel at all of that. The only issue being reliability and cost of upkeep which is a dice roll I guess.D Griff wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 2:13 pmBoxster is the way to go if you don't track or bike.max225 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 2:07 pm

A traffic collison on Interstate 5 in Northern California early Sunday escalated into a fight between two drivers that led to the deaths of both men, according to police.
California Highway Patrol told FOX40 the incident happened at 3:44 a.m. on the highway's northbound lanes near the Del Paso Road exit about 10 miles north of downtown Sacramento, when the drivers collided and drove near the exit where they began to fight.
During the altercation, one of the men pulled out a blunt object and beat the other man while in one of the highway traffic lanes, killing him, according to CHP.
After the fight, the suspect walked away in the middle of Interstate 5 where he was then struck and killed by another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

So where do we have a hero's welcome for the guy who struck and killed the murderer? Yeah, I don't think they're unreliable per se, but definitely higher risk than the Corvettes, which are pretty bullet proof, and the stuff that does break is pretty easily/cheaply addressed for the most part. The Cayman is a lot nicer to DD and more fun to drive around town. On a really great mountain road it may be a little better, but Corvette is still fantastic in that environment.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 2:23 pmA Cayman should excel at all of that. It’s basically a rav4 with a 2 liter Turbro and nicer materials and a fancy badge.
It’s based off the TNGA platform which is like the MQB that VW has. It’s the underpinning of most of Toyota’s mid size vehicles.
I’m not too familiar with the 2.0T. Didn’t make it’s way over to Toyota before I left. It’ll likely stay with Lexus for a couple years before it hits Toyota mass market.
