I'll gladly take the MPG penalty from my previous car since this one has zero wheel hop stupidity.
After spending some quality Forza time behind the wheel of a few Suby's, it has me itching to add one to the stable. Maybe in a year or two I'll be in a spot to pickup a '05-'07 STi.

I'm an AWD belieber now. It absolutely does make a difference even in just regular driving with a moderately powerful vehicle. Even with Lisa's Tiguan... that thing had wheel hop and torque steer and that it wouldn't if it were AWD. My car is just squat and go, it'll catch you off guard if you're not expecting it.

but wait until the summers are back on. The winter turd tires are no bueno for hooning.

My microvan doesn't have the fancy diffs but i never ever have any traction issues and I don't mind slightly lower FE to be able to away in any weather or driving conditions without the fwd
Also gas prices are super low which makes filling it with premium a little more bearable.

If you still have it by then...
Who knows what'll happen. The new crop of compactish CUVs are pushing $35-40k. That would get you a Rav4 Adventure 4 cyl, or a street oriented hybrid, or a CX5 turbo. Each one of those is good for it's intended purpose, but at that price why not get a CPO X3 or RDX and live the badge lyfe? Or same price gets you into a JLU.
A hybrid Rav might be a winner if it comes in around 30k. First model year and even Toyota isn't immune to 1st model year issues. Ugh.
The Mazda makes the most sense to buy used, but the real engine is new for this year so there aren't any used ones. New $35k Mazda will be $20k trade in 1 year later.
