Correct, never argued that.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 4:38 pmTry putting power down while pulling 1.3g lateral. That inside rear wheel gets really light.max225 wrote:
I had no issue putting the power down in the street, car was "tired" appropriately. 275s out back with 330hp 270tq it would launch like a beast from a dead stop over and over and over, with nearly no wheelspin. It was one of my fav aspects of the car.

I guess at the time the competition was the Volt which also required premium for the first generation... but yeah, it's annoying.Johnny_P wrote:Oh wow what retard spec'd that enginetroyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 4:34 pm
I just realized that the stupid vw jetta hybrids require premium fuel, so they're realistically no cheaper to run than a lobster or iA. 45 mpg on premium vs 35 or whatever on regular is about the same.
I'll probably buy nothing except for more tires and oil for the at this rate.

Also we discussed this .... DSGAY+TEENY motor+unproven VW attempt at hybrid. FK the jetta... it is asking for trouble.
The way to fly in that chassis is either tdi or 5 pot, which is supremely reliable runs on piss and sounds great.

I saw premium for $.70 more per gallon on the way home today. The norm is $0.4-0.5, but it's getting out of hand. Thankfully I don't commute much, and my only car that requires premium is rarely driven. Still, it would be enough to make me not buy a car that required premium to drive every day.

That's rape but the overall price is still probably less than CA doe. Costco is the lowest price on 91 and it was $3.49 this morning.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 6:52 pm I saw premium for $.70 more per gallon on the way home today. Nope, it was the same at $3.49. Regular was $2.79.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 7:00 pmThat's rape but the overall price is still probably less than CA doe. I usually pay around $3-3.20 for 93.
At least we don't have to deal with that piss 91 garbage.

It's a minimum of $0.50 extra anywhere near here, average probably $0.6X or over 20% extra. Ballpark $3.50 for 93 at an average station, just over $3 at the best one.Detroit wrote:I saw premium for $.70 more per gallon on the way home today. Premium gas slays me on this side of the wall too, about 60-70ish cents per gallon once the conversions are processed. I'll be running that fuel @ 28-32 mpg from now until 2023 before I the which is when my extended B2B expires.
Gotta pace myself and avoid looking at other fun things. Hopefully by that time I'll be tired of driving and PODs will be able to be hundreds of miles at 100 mpg.

Edmunds did a test on the GTI back in the day Premium vs regular and found no issues with power (at most 3-5% down), car made the same... of course in BASE TUNE mode. Do you HAVE TO run 91/93? or can it run on 87?

It's really hard to come up with a great car that runs on 87max225 wrote:I wouldn't premium in the fly overs... that's just not worth it.
That's part of what excites me about that Lobster R-spec and, to a lesser extent, the iA. It would be a solid $100 or more per month less fuel spending.

If only I could have used all this time I spent thinking/researching cars on getting rich.

I'd think a civic sport would be in the lower teens next year used... may be a decent option and runs on piss as well. Far more usable than an IA.troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 7:56 pmIt's really hard to come up with a great car that runs on 87max225 wrote:I wouldn't premium in the fly overs... that's just not worth it.

The iA is really the size of car that I'd prefer. 230i, FRZ, RX8, Cayman, 911, etc. are all in the ballpark as well. Civic is bigger than I want and I worry about the clutches.

GTI has the option to run 87, aar is t00ned for 80 extra HP and requires the higher proof stuff sadly. I'll be running more tanks of gas at the cruise set for 15 over then not so dumping 87 would be great. I do that to the wife's T-reg constantly.

Misrepresentation of wording, VW t00ns in the extra 80 ponies and explicitly tells customers that the engine can't run under 91 octane. They Aaarrrr all like that (pun intended). I guess it's a good selling point for the GTI over the

That explains how the "same" engine runs with 80 extra ponies. So the gayti can run on 87?

Can you really run 87 on an MQB and actually drive it hard? That or the A3 with the same engine could be an interesting compromise.
