aftermarket is excellent for the E46[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 4:30 pmEh, I'd just pull the Navi and replace with a newer AAuto/Carplay unit.
So outdated it hurts at this point.

Meh. The plastic shit is typical BMW, just be proactive and replace it. Retrofit kits available for the lights if the reflective part of the housing starts to melt, replace the navi head unit with one w/o navigation from a junkyard car for $150 if need be (who wants that old shitty navigation anyway??)...there are fixes for all of this stuff for not crazy money as long as you're not paying stealership prices to do it.
If you gave me that e46 or a brand new off the lot 340i for free, but told me I didn't have a warranty at all and had to put 150k on the car, I'd take the e46 in a heartbeat.

Horrific resolution, outdated maps, disgusting interfaces.... just no. Your phone is better than those are.

CPO 2015 S4 premium plus with nav, DCT, sports diff , BO sound
38k on the clock. $36 grand. That seems totally reasonable.

They're damn nice. My only lingering complaint about them is how heavy they are. 4,000 pounds really dulls the driving experience. Grip is still there, but it just doesn't seem eager to play around. Very different experience from the STi even though it's every bit as fast.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Fri May 25, 2018 12:29 pm https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sal ... elCode1=S4

That's kind of the point. I want something that's still got power to merge and whatnot, but rides smoother and soaks up potholes better. Would be a bonus if it didn't fall apart on a back road. Also gotta be reasonably sized.coogles wrote: ↑Fri May 25, 2018 12:50 pmThey're damn nice. That's the thing, they kind of do. Maybe my impression was skewed getting right out of the STi and into that, but through the roundabouts I took and the one curvy road near the dealership, I thought it kind of sucked. Great straight line car, rides beautifully, but with so much weight over the nose and so much lard to haul around in general, it's not at all fun to take through corners.

Oh wow. That's disappointing. And that car is touted as being more fun than a comparable 3 series.coogles wrote: ↑Fri May 25, 2018 1:02 pmThat's the thing, they kind of do. Really a shame the 2 series has no steering feel. It would be the perfect car. Maybe steering feel doesn't matter. But that car felt less "fun" than a GTI.
Fun is the reason I got my car. But fun doesn't really matter. Or there are other ways to have fun. Like, Jeeps are fun. Miatas have no power but are fun.

This is a vast money pit of epic proportions. The part out on this thing may be worth more than the car.max225 wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 2:59 pm https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/ ... 94630.html

This should end up well into the 300s with the BAT premium that seems to exist, but the fact it has the left front painted and is missing the original seats from the window sticker is only going to hurt.max225 wrote: ↑Sun May 27, 2018 2:27 pm160k msrp in 97 250k msrp in today’s dollars, plus air cooled and rare. 275-350k seems fair for something with 4 digit milesdubshow wrote: ↑Sun May 27, 2018 2:22 pm https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-porsche-turbo-s/

We have an Arena Red Turbo S with ~12k miles in storage at work. One day, that thing’s going to sell for an insane number.
Also, I wish Turbo Twists were directional. It bugs me that they’re not.
