I test drove a Canyon with a manual when they first came out.
It's slow, but more than adequate for the hardware lumber runs, but it was so bare bones.
I love my Canyon, but wish it had a manual trans. The coding must be there from the Camaros.

When the was killed in the Colorado, I was in a meeting with a bunch of engineers up to the chief. "Nobody bought it so it's dead" they concluded. "We only offered it in the work truck, we didn't give people that wanted more options a chance" I said AS THE BRAND GUY. "Well, nobody wants manuals anymore, case closed".
The reality is that there's a stupid amount that goes into getting a transmission into a vehicle. The cost is and makes zero sense...so the system is rewarded by reducing powertrain complexity.
I'm sure that's why Toyota controls how many they build...they probably buy all the manual transmissions and parts in batches and build them all at once to keep the flow of parts simple.
My dad has a 2016 Colorado with a manual. You can definitely tell zero fucks were given on the truck's design in regards to the transmission. The center console is way too high to make shifting into 2nd, 4th, and 6th comfortable, and the car still has a foot pedal parking brake.
But yeah, you could only buy the truck with a manual in 2WD, with a 4 cylinder, and in the base model or work truck trim. My dad's truck has power door locks and no key fob. Shit's fucking retarded.
And really, the lack of GM, Ford, or FCA offering anything remotely interesting/practical with a is one of the reasons VW got my money for my new daily.
It's funny, VW seems to have no issues moving and despite the auto offering being way "better". Go figure. You can go to a and actually test one of those cars in manual and choose from there. I had to buy my BMW without ever driving one other than a secretary spec auto 328i non Sport pack because the only one for sale in the US like I wanted was 700+ miles away.

I feel this is way better than all or all fun/sporty compacts or just all cars like most manufacturers.
They sell more GTIs anyway, if you really want a Golf, a GTI is only a few Gs more and a way better car. I think it was the smart move. Ford should've kept just the Fiesta ST in the great car of 2019, it would at least get people into the brand, and it would likely sell well as it would take all Fiesta/Focus sales and roll them into one vehicle.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.
