Same shit different trans. I actually really liked the manual in the JLUR. But it was too big and heavy for it. It would be great in a 2 door sport

Ratios between the 2 are quite different...many say the :manuel: isn't aggressive enough in 1-3 gears. We'll see.

The ratio in the JT is different from the JL? I thought the rear end is 4.11 for both, Jeep changed the trans ?

No, between the 8-speed and :manuel: To say they're both the same is :notsure:

4.10's are standard in the Rubicon. Base JL/T's get 3.42's IIRC. I'm driving a Sport :manuel: tonight, so I might miss some of the 4.10 final drive, but the tires are smaller, so it's probably a wash.

I thought you had a rubi, there is a pretty big difference in the gearing then. I don’t expect it to be good.... a lot of weight no low end and tallish gearing

Yea, going from my Rubicon Auto to the base Sport should be :flaccid: Still curious to see the difference.

Rubicon's tires are taller still. That affects torque to the ground. I bet the poverty model doesn't feel all that much slower, but it's all going to be in the transmission gearing. And IDGAF to look those numbers up so :aintcare: just want to hear what :koolaid: has to say about it after driving it for a little while.

So Jeep is putting the 3.slow into the gladiator next year ... interesting ....
Also gas tank on the diesel JL is only 18 gallons, I’m guess thanks to the piss tank that’s also required. My buddy’s house is averaging right around 20mpg in Cali, is assume the jeeps will get a bit better but not by much probably around 22/24 average which frankly isn’t bad.

But boy is that engine complex ... also 10.5 quarts of Italian oil and $30/40 oil filters.

It also runs through about 3 gallons of urea $50 or so, every 8000 miles...

Why not just bring the V8 ... much simpler solution imo.

Bruh, DEF (urea) is like $3 from the pump.

Also a non-mopar branded filter is significantly cheaper

and I doubt the oil will stray from 5w-40 synthetic - T6 Rotella is about $10/gal

:wat: ? Oil is $10 a gallon ?
Sure let’s get away from oem parts as well. That’s cutting corners imo.

Sounds good to me. Especially when I can literally see the OEM pn scratched out to be sold "aftermarket"

So what oil is $10 a gallon that meets the spec ?
Also are you sure about the filters being identical ?
Not like Mopar is a luxury brand here. I’m simply pointing out the maintenance requirements for the diesel, and the likely $5k upcharge on top of everything else. It becomes
A difficult choice on the Jeep imo.

Not saying that it'll be worth the 5k upcharge. They rarely are unless you plan to keep the vehicle for significant amount of time, but you're painting the picture as substantially different than the gasoline counterpart

There's only a handful of filter manufacturers in the world. A LOT of them are built right next to each other with a different label/paint applied.

Regarding oil. Assuming it's CJ-4, with whatever weight they're asking for (assuming 5-40) and assuming they don't have some ridiculous standard that nobody meets - yes rotella t6 will likely do the job.

https://www.idparts.com/ram-ecodiesel-o ... -4255.html

This is a highly reputable site ...
$85 for just some off brand filter and gulf oil
+$16 for rotella
+$25 for oem oil filter

That’s over $120 in parts ! A comparable 3.6 is like $30... the :dillerman: charges $299 for the diesels and $99 for the regular motors too.

It is substantially different... far more expensive to do basic maintenance on, due to oil capacity and parts prices
