I dunno man this sounds like the melted engine was avoidable by paying attention to what's going on......max225 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 1:35 pm
So one of the main reasons I got a mini is because I visited a friend in Austin, and he happened to have had a super clean 2013 Pooper S with 52k miles, single owner and all maintenance records...
I just found out... it just popped the motor... "Waterpump fubared... popped two belts and overheated..." he bought an aftermarket "warranty" which is now fighitng with the
He is a car guy and specifically got the 2013 because they were supposed to be ok... this is terrifying.

You have to go through a menu ... like 6 clicks and all it does is show “temp ok” after those ... doesn’t default screen.

The F55 loaners I had would go back to the temp screen if left there, and would show temps until it was warmed up and then showed the “temp ok” message, from my recollection.

Wow yeah. Can you get an aftermarket thing as previously discussed? The digital in the vent thing? Complete lack of engine temp monitoring is.....not good.

I’m sold on these cars. They have so much more uniqueness and character compared to the VWs. And now... they are also somewhat reliable... what’s not to like ?Irish wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2019 2:52 pm This thing looks like a contender....

Yeah, your whole experience, despite titlegate2019, has really opened my eyes to them..... they just weren't on my radar because I hadn't realized that they corrected the reliability issues......max225 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2019 3:09 pmI’m sold on these cars. They are garishness done right as opposed to what Honduh an Sububro have done with their performers.... and now that they have one that is a performance contender to the ? they have definitely got my attention......
That being said ~$40K+ for a 4 banger hot hatch is never gonna happen for me...... Soooo........ I will still likely end up with a 2017-18 in another year or two and then maybe a 2020 300+ hp Clubman in 2024.......

Yea the prices on new ones are wild and they aren’t wheelin and dealin. I hope bmw doesn’t outright kill the brand since everyone wants a truck or crotchfruit hauler and these things are the polar opposite of that.Irish wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2019 3:49 pmYeah, your whole experience, despite titlegate2019, has really opened my eyes to them..... they just weren't on my radar because I hadn't realized that they corrected the reliability issues......

I do have to say that you can carry 2 CF in this thing. The azn also fits behind my friend in the back with relative comfort.

What does your local charge for an Oil Change? I think I want to bring mine in before the warranty is up in late Nov to have it done, and in case they find anything to fix under warranty.
Also anyone with CPO warranty hookups?

Did the diller sign you up for their newsletters?
When I bought mine from Mini of Alexandria, I immediately got emails with offers and they usually have decent dills on oil changes.
I’ve never bothered to actually ask for a quote doe.

I guess you didn't follow my thread... but my is Audi of Jacksonville and they did in fact sign me up for their newletter, but I am not interested in a lease of an Audi A3 1.8T FWD for 399 a month after $3850 down.Swedish Chef wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2019 6:27 pmDid the diller sign you up for their newsletters?

This forum moves too fast for me to check most threads, but does ring a bell now that you mentioned it was bought from an Audi diller.

Interesting for shits and giggles I watched a crash vid a few days ago. And that looks identical to the short overlap crash test ... how’s the tt driver ?[user not found] wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 4:54 pm
If anyone's questioning the structural integrity of a MINI vs an Audi TT.
Unfortunately the JCW belonged to one of our own members: Blasian.
All good save for some broken/dislocated toes.
Minis have top safety ratings
