So expensive for what you get new.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 11:43 amFor a while people bought them because they were trendycoogles wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 11:12 am
I just can't see why people would go for these if they weren't even *slightly* interested in having something fun to drive. I mean my wife, for example, is so, so far from being a car person, but she bought a 2005 Mazda 3 after college because it was more fun to drive than anything else she test drove, with absolutely no input from me. Later on we got her a 2013 Jetta and while she liked a lot about it, after awhile she really started to hate how it drove because the trans would race to the highest gear and it didn't handle nearly as well.
These cars don't need to be enthusiast cars, necessarily, but I do think they need to offer some semblance of sport that you wouldn't find in a Corolla. If they don't, they are just a fashion accessory, and the appeal of that will fade quickly.
I think reliability reports from CR and such have tainted the public's view of these cars
Doesn't help that they're expensive

Articles I've read have said no DCT for the USA.
http://www.motoringfile.com/2018/01/10/ ... t-getting/
No adaptive matrix lighting
No updated engines
No 7-speed steptronic dual clutch
"Why the US isn’t getting [the DCT]: The production rollout will take time and MINI has made the US market lower on its priority list given the complexities of meeting EPA requirements."
Eventually, they will come.
Matrix lighting is a no-fly-zone because of archaic US lighting laws.
Engines will come, too.
7DCT would help up the fun factor. IDK about the warranty repair factor doe.

Does yours have the wacky reverse detent thing too? On a test drive I downshifted from 3-2 and it popped into reverse Didn't go into gear just went into the gate a bit. Just the tip.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 2:02 pmI think just a loss of weight, a slight bump in power, and a bump in steering feel would be a huge boost to the character of the car.
And a better-feeling manual. DCT will be nice, doe.
But nobody cares about manuals. Upping the fun factor on the automatic is a good idea.
Make it more exciting to wring out and they'll have more enthusiast attention. Either with noise or with adjusting the turbo power so you get more on the top end.

No need to be so violent with your knob that it's getting into the reverse gate.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 2:07 pmDoes yours have the wacky reverse detent thing too? I would have preferred this...Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 9:02 am To be fair I think it looks alright but then again I never really had an issue with the F56 styling in general. I think Mini/BMW needed to uncork the engines a bit, make the MT better, make the car more exciting to drive through sound or who knows what. They also didn't do a damn thing to the interior, like why does it still have a cable parking brake? It should have an electronic parking brake so they can redesign the center console cluster fuck arm rest and infotainment controller situation.
I dunno. I guess I was hoping for a bit more. Maybe they'll up the lease support on these.

Stepped foot into an actual indoor mall for the first time in several years before Christmas last month. Don't want to repeat that again for a loooooooooooooong time.

It's embarrassing. I would put on my best pair of Jox (Mom wouldn't buy me Pro Keds), parachute pants, and sleeve-rolled-up Members Only, and trick Nicki Miller into letting me finger pop her in the back of Spencer Gifts.
Yeah. Class.
